Get a grip mate. You support Chelsea. Not Juan Mata FC and certainly not Man Utd! Dont focus on them, its about Chelsea. You may be disappointed with selling a good player (albeit one that wasnt playing) and sure its strange selling him to Man Utd, but its hardly a 'sorry mess', honestly we are the luckiest fans in the world and have been for a decade. Not that youd know it reading some of the nonsense spouted on this site the past 24 hours. As Ive said in another thread somewhere, when you wake up in the morning Stamford Bridge is still going to be standing. Thats what matters.

See the idiot brigade have swapped the Mata thread for this one... Not going to proclaim he is going to be a world beater or anything but in the 4 games this past year we've had against Basel, i thought Salah was outstanding in 3 of them, If he fits the managers bill and will play a part, rather than Mata who doesnt fit the managers bill not playing at all, then who are we to argue.

Thats a fair point Gem. I mentioned Mata as i i think this thread was very obviously started in reference to his impending departure (certainly not having a pop at you Barak). Clearly the transfer has brought out a lot of emotions, some good some utterly embarrassing (that Mata thread is now a complete shocking mindf*ck). Ive never been overly devastated if a player has left because that's what generally happens in football. Like i said its a club/team thing and whats hurt me most in my Chelsea years have been defeats - players leaving sometimes annoys me (Durie and Townsend spring to mind, more down to the individuals behavior more than anything else). I think we all knew it was coming with Mata, the surprise has been the decision of who to sell him too. But like i said thats what happens. Players come and players leave. Its obviously sadder when its a player we all love, but you know what - when we all wake up in the morning im pretty sure Stamford Bridge will still be there.

2 massive things to think about if we sell Mata this window: What happens if Oscar, Willian or Hazard get a serious injury ? What happens if PSG come in with a Summer £70 million bid for Hazard and the player wants to go? I really hope the club are absolutely exhausting all possibilities and ramifications of this potential transfer before coming to a descion. Whilst I understand the flawed economics of having a £40 million player not playing, I feel the club need to hang on to the player until the Summer and see what happens then. I'm struggling to see the sense in selling now, and certainly struggle to see the sense in selling to a domestic rival.

Disagree. I get the impression Mata adores playing for Chelsea and would happily spend the rest of his career here. You can't say the same for Oscar and Hazard. They are happy to be here right now I'm sure but will both those players still be here in 3 seasons time? We'll see... You can tell Mata loves London (read his blog) and enjoys playing for us so much, he'd love to stay for as long as possible, I'm sure of it. That's why this would hurt. I do understand the economics but he is just such a good player and he loves the club. It's just stinks of short termism, again. But what can you do? I'd love him to stay but he's got to be playing really. No player as gifted as that should be sitting on the bench every week.

Personally Id still be well up for Rooney. Dont like the guy but so what ? Cant say I particularly like JT and Ashley Cole much as people either. But i do know once they put the strip on i love them as players as they give everything and it would be the same with Rooney. People let their feelings about his personality and United cloud their judgment i think, and for me the only doubts would be injury wise. Rooney has been one of the best players in the country every season for 10 years .By any measure, he's an exceptional player and on a different level to our current forwards and i think Jose Mourinho would get the absolute best out of him.

Lots of assumptions we just need to turn up on Sunday to win this which worries me little ! One thing we've surely all learnt is that more often than not the games you are most confident about are the games that surprise you the most.
