Actually the linesman was flagging for a goal and a couple of Villa players started to point this out even running across to the touchline to bring it to O'Neills attention. Quite how he could say the ball, had crossed the line I do not know. To signal for a penalty jhe has to put the flag across his chest, he pointed straight back to the centre line and kept the flag there for a good 5 seconds or so. I was under the impression that the linesman was consulted to confirm that Ashley had handled the ball, afterall thats when the red card was brandished.

On MOTD they slowed it down from another angle (from the dugout camera) and it was 99% proven it didnt touch his arm as the ball did not move a smither as it passed Ashleys left arm, NOT A SMITHER! It was a decision that ref's give in the last minute to even up a 3 player sending off ! Now both mangers take something and the ref is saved ! But Ashley was very very unlucky to be sent off.

I think the boo's were aimed at the ref personally !

The first route would be the best option, but i think a journeyman like Woodgate would relish the chance of 2 months first team football under the richest club owner in the world. He would have a big enough chance to play himself into the fold even when we have a full squad. The amount of times Woodgates gets head to ball is very impressive.

Without Terry, Drogba (best defensive header in prem) and Ricky for a while we will be very very week at the back in the air. We may even have no Cech for a while ? Expect us to leak goals like today, from good crossed balls into the box were very vunerable. We must buy a good strong aerial header center back, someone who sticks his head where others dont. Woodgate would for me fill this roll. Haim > Woodgate deal would be perfect.

Fulham have just got spanked good and proper by Spurs today and are currently without a manager so they surely should not prove too problematic, QPR nuff said and the only one to really worry about is Newcastle really.

Totally agree with you, however Ricky did make 100% ball contact and did not contact the AV player at all. It looked a lot lot worse than it actually was, i suppose he got sent off for what he could of done he wasnt so lucky, but he def didnt take out the villa player.
