He doesn't have to start. Just a few subs appearances would be nice. In any case in the starts he has made he defintely does seem to have "character".

What's the point of having him on the bench if he's never going to come on when it matters?!? It's all well and good saying he needs protecting, which I agree with to an extent. But having said that even 10-15 mins surely won't harm him, and heaven forbid, he might actually create something. If we're not going to use him because of inexperience we might as well send him out on loan, call back Cork and have him there as the back-up midfielder. Couldn't do much worse than our lot at the moment.

Painful to watch...I hate Waddle and thought his commentary was terrible, but 1 point he made I can't argue with is the serious lack of width. We're oh so predictable to play against. Every single time down the middle, and when you don't have flair players it's not going to work. Good to see our good record in shootouts has continued! Absolutely love Essien. But have to say this season he has been pretty poor. As others have said may be a mixture of psychological/physical problems, but it is quite worrying to see him lose the ball as often as he does, without any of the dynamism we've been used to from him. Probably worth benching him just to give him a break for a bit?

Even with them in bad form it will be far from easy. They usually do very well at the Bridge, and Moyes usually sets up teams that are combative and are hard to beat. I'd love to see Josh start but not holding my breath, which is quite sad to be honest.

Well that pretty much sums up our season. Plenty of possession, not creativity whatsoever. I thought Luiz was very good, apart from the late slip obviously. Ramires was fantastic, but Lampard (!) and Essien really do need to up their game. Is Essien really offering something McEachran can't or am I missing something?

Henry Winter's Twitter Interesting one for me. I'd probably start Torres, but it could be a risk as others have said not just injury wise, but in firing up Liverpool's players even more. A lot depends on tonight, if our front line fires tonight I'd be happy for it to stay for now with the option of bringing on Torres on Sunday.

An away win, feels weird but great The Reebok has been verrry kind to us in the past 6 or 7 seasons!

Funny one. Bolton away always seems to be tough, and there's no doubt it will be a hard match. On the other hand we have an excellent record at the Reebok (when was the last time we even conceded there?). But as others have said, we need JT and Lamps fit and ready for a big game.

Very clever player, thought we'd bought him too old but thankfully proven wrong. Real Madrid's record in the Champions' League post-Makelele says a lot about what a key player he was.
