  1. Hopefully adds a few more million to his price tag when we inevitably sell him at the end of the season.
  2. They're f*cked, especially if Austin is out for the season.
  3. Cheers guys! anyone else?
  4. Morning everyone, Just wondering if any of you guys are on Twitter and if so if you'd be willing to share your ID's? I'm @PLeskinen1989, don't tweet much myself but retweet anything Chelsea/Football related that's interesting and/or funny. Follow pretty much every Chelsea fan on Twitter. Thanks.
  5. You can bet they will. They've not won the AFCON since 1992 despite having easily the best squad of players in Africa for years.
  6. Seen reports on the internet, some from Belgium, suggesting that the contract has been agreed but that for whatever reason they won't announce it until the end of the season. Could just be speculation but it wouldn't be the first time that this has happened.
  7. Feel like yesterday could turn out to be a significant day in the title race. 7 points is a lot at this point, and given City's run in I feel fairly confident that we will see this through. So Everton at home for us Wednesday whilst City go to Stoke. Both tricky games in their own rights, we could quite conceivably add to to our lead. Does anyone know if Yaya Toure and Bony will be back for that?
  8. Said this before but honestly, every time I watch him play I feel happier and happier about the £28m we fleeced Everton for. Good finisher but is overall link-up play is so poor.
  9. What a tedious, crap game. The Scouse derbies are always sh*t to watch.
  10. Buzzing after today. Can't believe we extended our lead at the top, really didn't see that coming. Feel like we've taken an important step. Not the best performance by any means but as the popular cliche goes, winning when you're not at your best is what wins titles. Delighted for Ivanovic, he's such a warrior for our club and so likeable in many ways. The picture of his blood-stained boot from the other day speaks volues about this man's character. Everton at home on Weds whilst City have to go away to Stoke too!
  11. Nervous about this, hate Villa away as a fixture given that we always play poorly there. Time for us to man up I think and show some real title credentials. It's all well and good beating everyone when you are flying, energized by new signings in the August sunshine and with a fully fit squad, but championships are won when you go away from home with a depleted squad and grind out a tight victory. Looks like Fabregas will miss both this and the Everton game, as a result I see both games being a struggle. If we can get 6 points I'd be delighted, 4 would be good as I don't see City winning at Stoke on Wednesday. Excited to see Cuadrado, hope Willian is fit though as I wouldn't want to chuck Cuadrado in straightaway.
  12. Would have liked to see us give him more time, I still think that Schürrle could be a really good player in time. He’s a deadly finisher, has a great shot on him and makes intelligent, incisive runs off the wing. Sadly his general play and touch were poor, and that proved to be his undoing with us here. Seemed like the World Cup hangover affected him initially and then he got really ill too. Likeable, hard-working bloke who I’m sure will have a good career. All the best, André! Viel Glück.
  13. 'Arry's resigned. Impeccable timing.
  14. Good deal for all parties. Bertrand will always be in our hearts after his contribution in Munich. All the best, Ryan! Ryan, like a Lion, in Bayern...
  15. I'm a fan of Schurrle's and would have liked to see us persevere with him until the end of the season. He's the best finisher that we have out of our AM's and I still think he could be deadly for us in the CL away from on the counter attack this season. But if he wants to go then fair enough, especially if the reports are correct that Wolfsburg are willing to pay £30m. Cuadrado could give us that added spark that we've been lacking off the bench at times this season.
  16. Was in the WU as usual - for the record, I don't sit there out of choice, got family friends that offer me tickets up there - and that was by far the best atmosphere we've had this season and for a long time overall. It was the first time I've heard Carefree echoing around all stands in the ground since I can remember really, the sound was awesome. Their lot weren't great I have to say, they sang something about Costa being the 'elephant man' and that was about it. I take it they didn't even sell out, would have thought that they would have been able to round up enough of the genuine, hardcore, London-based RedMen to fill out the Shed.
  17. Thought Willian was one of our very best last night. Sure, I wish he'd take more players on but he provided the cross for Ivanovic to nod in and his workrate was phenomenal, as it usually is. In tight cup games, especially ones that go to ET, player's physical and mental fitness is really significant and Willian's shift yesterday underscored how valuable he is for us, even if he doesn't get enough goals. Thought he interchanged nicely with the other forward players too.
  18. Our first team is excellent on paper but our squad needs work. We need a CB, CM and a winger at the moment. In the summer we will need a striker if Drogba retires as well.
  19. Something to keep an eye on. You can bet that City will have a private jet on standby.
  20. I've done a bunch of accies this year, hit all 8 in the CL twice this year. Had a couple 6 and 7 legged ones which were very close this weekend, cashed out one but didn't the other. Feels like a bit a of a lottery at times, especially when you're adding in all the European Leagues!
  21. Posted this elsewhere fwiw: Watched the game last night. That's the first 90 minutes I've seen of Cuadrado. He's clearly got talent and has all kinds of tricks up his sleeve, I can see him being a threat off the bench. Pace to burn too. I just don't think he's a JM type player, can't see him working very hard off the ball. Cuadrado to me seems like the kind of player that could provide moments of magic amid lots of inconsistency, or I could see him flopping spectacularly. Seems like a really risky signing to me. That said, we are getting zero from Schurrle and Salah at the moment and I think we need to bring someone in badly. I also think we need a CB too but that's for another discussion entirely.

  23. A League One side were 2-0 down away to the team currently leading the Premier League and proceeded to win 4-2. I've literally never heard of anything like it. 1 in a 100.
  24. Horrendous day, but congrats to Bradford. Truly awesome by them. Let me just say that I can't believe people are criticising Jose for rotating the squad. We need the big guns fit and firing for Liverpool and City, the 2 biggest games of our season thus far. Our squad players should easily be able to take care of a League One side at home ffs. And we were 2-0 up!! What an endeightment it is currently for the likes of Salah, Ramires, Mikel etc that they need Hazard and co. to come to the rescue at home to Bradford City... I didn't see the game but from watching the highlights it seems as though the team just collectively sh*t itself for whatever reason whenever Bradford were attacking in 2nd half. We clearly lacked leadership out there without JT, but that is simply unacceptable given the experience we had on the pitch and the fact that we were playing against a League One team. Gary Cahill is really starting to concern me. Not only is he not taking responsibility out there when JT isn't around like he should, his catalogue of defensive errors seems to be growing game by game at the moment. We need a better CB to partner with JT, Cahill would be great as a backup but he's simply not good enough to start for us week in week out. One more thing: I'm a big fan of the FA Cup, I always have been. As someone who was born in the late 90's, many of my earliest and most vivid memories of being a Chelsea fan revolve around the FA Cup - the 1994 final, 4-2 v Liverpool in 1997 and of course Di Matteo's screamer at Wembley. Therefore, the FA Cup is something I want Chelsea to take seriously every season, given how central it has been to our history. However, I do think that we're better off without the added games this year. I just don't think our squad can cope with challenging on 4 fronts, especially given how imperative winning the title feels like this season.
