  1. When we were three or four goals up... "We're only warming up, we're only warming up, We're only warming up!"
  2. Who f*ckin' asked you, ya pig f*ckin' w*nker? Surely not, Kev?
  3. Just played the clip and you're right, there was a loud banger let off soon after Mariner's goal - they were actually showing the slow motion replay when the banger went off. I dunno, the things I do for people, having to watch an Arsenal goal - and not just an Arsenal goal, but one by that c*nt Mariner, I hate that arrogant bleeder so much! Hope you collect your winnings, mate!
  4. Thanks for relating that story, lightblue, nice to know there are still some decent people out there. To be honest, I was a bit intrigued when I saw this thread, I thought it was "City fan passing on, thanks to kind Chelsea fan" - glad I was wrong!
  5. I watched the game on TV and was very impressed with our side. The centre-back pairing of Andreas Christiensen and Alex Davey played excellently, as did Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Alex Kiwomya, Jeremie Boga and Lewis Baker. Couldn't help noticing the scouse 'fans' were at their usual level of scumminess, booing when two of our players, Ola Aina and Christiensen were injured and eventually had to be taken off. Most of these 'fans' were middle aged blokes sitting in the Kop, and they were booing 16 and 17 year olds when they got injured, they really are total c*nts of the highest order.
  6. Yeah, I remember there was a small crew from Slough used to go in the Shed, and another from Basingstoke.
  7. Done - got to back the club we signed the legend Micky Droy from!
  8. I lived in Porth, Newquay when I was about 2 or 3, then we moved back to London. Then we returned to Cornwall in 1967 when I was 10, and lived in Perranporth for a while before moving nearer to your neck of the woods - Rosudgeon, near Marazion. I went to school in Perranporth and Marazion, and loved it there, but my dad found it hard to find work - outsiders weren't too welcome back then! Once went on a school camping trip near Helston, I remember us having a day out at Goonhilly Down - very happy memories of living in Cornwall, but sadly I can't afford to do so now. I've got cousins in Bodmin and St.Teath and an aunt in Newquay, so hopefully I'll be coming down there this summer for a week or two. I'll probably spend quite a bit of time in the White Hart in St.Teath and The Weavers in Bodmin with my cousin Kevin. He still travels up to the Bridge now and then with some of his Chelsea mad mates, taking turns driving a mini-bus.
  9. That's sad news, Wilko is a hell of a character and a true rock legend.
  10. Hello Cornwall - what part you from? I lived down there when I was a kid and still have family there.
  11. There were two or three versions of that song - here's one... One day I went to Upton Park Singing, singing, Chelsea are the champions Singing, singing, Chelsea are the kings I saw Ron Greenwood standing there All alone! All alone! I said to him what's up my friend He said the Mile End's run again Singing, singing, Chelsea are the champions Singing, singing, Chelsea are the kings I remember the Arsenal version too - you'll be able to work out the words to that one for yourself
  12. I, too, can't afford to help out financially, but I wish Dunfermline Athletic all the luck in the world, Scottish football is in a bad enough state as it is without losing a club with their history and tradition.
  13. Well, that was a close one, you had a very strong side and it could have gone either way. If I take a player from your side does he have to replace one of existing players? If so, then I'll take Carlos Alberto to replace Gerets. Thanks for setting this all up, Teritus, I'm having fun selecting teams and tactics - and I'd say the same even if I'd lost!
  14. Judging a players ability is all a matter of personal opinion. And I was making a light-hearted remark, not complaining, this is supposed to be a bit of fun! You're taking this far too seriously, my friend.
  15. Can't believe so many people are voting for a team full of players they've never seen. Maybe Tetritus is PMing people to get more votes, but I suspect it's more to do with the fact there's a lot of people on this site who don't like me, but don't get me wrong - I'm not paranoid, it's just that everyone's out to get me Come on people, how can this team lose to anyone??? Casillas Gerets - Charles - Shesternyov - Brehme Makelele - Breitner Best - Zola - Dzajic Drogba
  16. I remember Ruud Gullit playing as sweeper quite a few times, he did a great job there, though obviously his best position at the height of his career was further forward.
  17. Me either, though Ruud is a big fella. OK then, it's Breitner into the hard tackling defensive midfield role alongside Maka, with Brehme taking over at left back and Ruud making way for him. Thanks for letting me know
  18. Aha, the old 20th hour substitution tactic! Right, I shall counter that by playing Ruud Gullit as a hard tackling defensive midfielder rather than box-to-box, and instructing my full-backs not to charge forward so much. Ideally I'd have brought Breitner into the middle and brought on Brehme for Gullit, but I can't because of the nationality rule.
  19. I didn't even think about that when picking my side, but I can see why you might think that. At least I picked world class Chelsea players, I could have selected Del Horno, Fleck, Jokanovic and Zenden!
  20. I know, I know, but alas I already had my allocation of Welshmen in John Charles
  21. Not me, my vote made it 2-2! Don't believe the propaganda, people, Teritus says Drogba is the only proven goalscorer in my side?!? I'm pretty sure that George Best, Dragan Dzajic and Gianfranco Zola are all well capable of scoring plenty of goals, as is Ruud Gullit should he be called upon to get forward more. And as the dastardly aforementioned Teritus has seen fit to try and boost his votes by posting vids of his players, here are a couple of mine... Dragan Dzajic George Best Naturally I'm assuming that most of you already know how brilliant Gullit, Zola, Makelele and Drogba are
  22. Maybe some people voted for their favourite poster of the two? If so, then I'm f*cked!
  23. Sack 'em both, the fascist swine!!!
  24. Casillas Gerets - Charles - Shesternyov - Breitner Gullit - Makelele Best - Zola - Dzajic Drogba subs - Mazzola, Brehme OK, I'll have a go at explaining my tactics, bear with me... Iker Casillas is an exceptional keeper, and will command respect and confidence from his team-mates. In front of him is captain John Charles, the 'Gentle Giant', hard as nails yet never booked or sent off throughout his career. Superb in the air, and can be utilised as centre-forward if necessary, where he is just as strong. His defensive partner is Albert Shesternyov, known as 'Ivan The Terrible' in his native Russia. A one-club man with CSKA Moscow, he's tough, strong, and an exceptional defender, and will be under instructions to destroy Puskas and wind up Stoichkov with a view to making him lose his temper and get a red card. Nice, eh? On the right flank my side will benefit from the great stamina and toughness of Eric Gerets, who will be playing as a wing-back but using his discipline to defend strongly too. On the left, Paul Breitner will be doing a similar job, occasionally whacking a powerful long-range shot in, and generally terrorising the opposition with his afro hair style and moustache, a fearsome combination I think you'll agree. Claude Makelele will obviously be playing in the defensive midfield role that now bears his name, protecting his defenders, breaking up play and providing a springboard for counter attack. Ruud Gullit will be playing alongside Maka, but as a box-to-box midfielder. His superb skill and versatility will play a large play in our success, both defending strongly but getting forward when necessary. Any defender would dread having to play against George Best, and he will wreak havoc down the right with his superb ball skills, dribbling, passing and technique, and will definitely be among the goals. His ability to play through the middle, on the left and up front should be an invaluable asset. On the left, Dragan Dzagic's great pace and superb crossing will provide many goals for the side, his dribbling and passing causing the opposition right back to have to change his shorts at half-time. His ability at free-kicks will also be a huge bonus for us. Both Best and Dzajic have natural techique and stamina, as does Gianfranco Zola who will play just behind the striker. Zola's close control and immense skill will provide plenty of goals for both himself and Drogba. Drogs will dominate in the air, and his power and strength will intimidate any defence. Great in the air, and with superb skill for such a big man, Drogs will score many goals - some of which may be provided by the long throw-ins by Erik Gerets. On the bench are Sandro Mazzola, a brilliant attacking midfield or inside-right. To have a substitute of his exceptional creative intincts, passing range and vision, combined with his prolific goalscoring will generate immense confidence in the side if we lose a player to injury or have to change tactics. Andreas Brehme is the more defensive sub, playing equally well at left-back, wing-back, or left midfield. A two-footed superb crosser of the ball and free-kick taker, he'd be an asset to any team. My side will play aggressive, attacking football, using both flanks to our advantage. I'll employ tough tackling throughout the side, and any signs of a fairy nature like diving or feigning injury will lead to instant substitution - yes, Drogba, I'm talking to you! The side is physically strong, and I want that to be a large part of our style, which combined with the natural skill and flair throughout the side should prove to be an unbeatable combination.
