when we had the ball mikel made no contribution to the attack. he just waited for a breakdown and allowed others to do the job of tackling and breaking the play. when others 'miss' he 'sometimes' does not anticipate the danger to the 'miss'! against lesser teams or when we play defencively mikel is under less pressure because others are involved. perhaps romeu might have something to offer in the role or ramires.

it dosen't help when we have to play 3 games in the last 10 days compared to athletic's 1! yes mikel cops a lot and his performance today just highlighted his weakness! he just stood still when we had possesion and when we didn't he was nowhere near the danger areas! mikel needs to be a lot more active to give others more of an advantage but this is not his way of play!

i've watched enough matches to know mikel is very inconsistent. when the whole team is on rearguard action with ramires and mereiles and we get a result then it looks like he has done a good job. when we are not playing like that then he does put pressure on our play by going missing! i would rather have ramires who is a better player who has real stamina to get around the pitch. they don't call him the blue kenyon for nothing!

hazard. with more gametime mcechren would make hazard and marin more effective in keeping and attacking with the ball. interesting to see how RDM with utilise the talents especially when mata and oscar are back. the creativity and ball retention is potentially looking good.
