I don't think we're far off at all. We weren't even that far off last season until the injury crisis. He's been gradually getting better and better for us since he was introduced to the first team. Unless his progression comes to a halt then I have no reason to believe he won't get even better this season.

Just because a player doesn't score or assist doesn't mean they haven't turned up. Apart from his penalties he is one of if not our best player, and looking at solely goals and assists and cherry-picking the ones you deem important makes it seem like you're trying a bit too hard to discount his development at Chelsea so far.

Do we get less points by beating teams in the bottom 6?

Even more reason to sign him up even if it means overspending.

You reckon we could challenge if we end up with Fofana, Cucurella and potentially another midfielder or forward? Could get interesting if Kante and Kova somehow manage to stay fit for the majority of the season. Or is this all just wishful thinking?

What happened last season answers your concerns. We can't be expected to compete with the best consistently unless we players who are good enough, both starting and on the bench.

I doubt it's as cut and dry as that. Seems like Arsenal were favorites to sign Jesus even before the window opened. Probably the Arteta/Pep factor coming into play there.

That's not the clip I meant to post actually. I recall seeing one where he was running rings around Real's defenders but I can't seem to find it now. It's not like the guy who benched him at Dortmund is tearing things up at Man Utd now is he? We've seen what he was capable of post-lockdown under Lampard. Yes I know that was a long time ago and shouldn't be used as an excuse to keep him at Chelsea for that alone, but how many players have you seen perform like that for us since Hazard? We signed him due to his potential, not his nationality.

Not sure that's actually true but if it is, maybe it's because we want to go after Fofana instead? Unlike Kounde, he won't need time to adjust to the physicality of the league, and we've already signed one CB from abroad.

Does Frenkie de Jong fit the bill you think? Doesn't look the strongest but definitely looks more athletic than Jorginho. Haven't seen much of him myself, curious to hear what you think of him.
