Udinese vs Chelsea 29/7/22 8PM GMT

Recommended Posts

How will the players react to the Arsenal loss and TT post game comments?

Will we see our "Strongest 11"?

Will we pull a rabbit out of the hat like Koulibalys transfer was and have a new player or 2 in ahead of this game?

Is this TT current mood?

Providing all are fit I would like to see TT start with this side:

Mendy

Koulibaly

Silva

Colwill

James

Kovacic

Kante

Chilwell

Mount

Broja

Sterling

I would like Kante to be asked to play as a DM. We don't appear to be linked with any so far, not seriously. I know Kante is at his best as a box to box midfielder however with his injury record over the recent seasons I am hoping a lesser, Makalele like workload may preserve him a bit and allow us a bit more defensive stability.

Doubt Kante will go re the vaccinations.

Joke really if Djokovich unvaccinated can win Wimbledon yet not be let into the USA or EU.

Ah are Italy the same as the US and don't allow unvaccinated players in?

I thought they would be the same as the EU my bro didn't want the vaccine yet said as he had Spanish family he couldn't risk not being able to travel there.

With all due respect mr. @axman2526 we don't really know what is our strongest lineup when everyone is fully fit, this hasn't happen with this group yet and probably never will.

Otherwise if everyone were to be in top shape I wouldn't mind seeing a back 4 formation:

                Mendy
James T.Silva Koulibaly Chilwell
               Jorginho
        Kante        Kovacic
Gallagher                    Mount
                 Havertz

Yeah they ain't putting Sterling on the bench. He was signed to be a star.

You can't have Jorginho as DM defending a flat back four Gol. It's a gas mark 4, 180 degree, 90 minute recipe for disaster.

Should add we might get away with it in a pre-season friendly against a team that finished 12th in Serie A, but, competively, in the EPL? No chance.

I mean it worked well when we had D.Luiz and Rudiger being the CB pairing along side Alonso as the LB and even Kepa as the first choice keeper... No reason why it wouldn't work with superior defenders.

Nope. It won't.

No other player there can make it work part from Jorginho though, every combination in a potential 4-3-3 must have Jorginho or it won't work. Unless we sign a new player that is.

Kante has all the tools needed. He would just have to drop his instincts to drive forward.

Chalobah also played there for Ipswich and Lorient.

James has played there too, Ampadu as well. If we switched to a flat back four, and personally, I don't think TT will at the moment, for sure we would need a DM that is a lot faster, athletic and stronger than Jorginho.

Ampadu did indeed last season, good point Just.

James though I think is just too offensive and would lack the discipline to curb his enthusiasm to roam forward.

Does Frenkie de Jong fit the bill you think? Doesn't look the strongest but definitely looks more athletic than Jorginho.

Haven't seen much of him myself, curious to hear what you think of him.

Frenkie De Jong is an excellent regista, very press resistent and calm on the ball, would say he's a bit better defensively than Jorginho, and he has more pace. But he's not really a defensive midfielder. He just likes to play in front of the defence and dictate play

this is him at his best really

The DM in a 4-3-3 needs to be able to drop into the hole between the central defenders, otherwise you get what happens against Arsenal - wide open spaces in the channels on counter-attacks.

Jorginho hasn't the pace to get back and do that.

Kante likely will play not having travelled to the States and it would be interesting to see Broja. I want to see sterling on the right. Gallagher can’t play if mount does but I’d like to see Gallagher in a decent 4 3 3

But he can't as he's already shown and not only that, his positional play in the first phase build up (trying to beat the press) is awful.

I`d love to see him play Jorginho there just for the macabre hilarity of it all, would be like asking a seagull to do quantum mechanics....
