I personally dont think hes "worth" 70 million either, and I hate to be the one who says this, but its not my money. This was said by several posters actually. Are you saying James cant play behind the striker and that he doesnt like to cut in from the right on his preferred foot? Because thats usually the space in which he operates. Or are you saying you prefer Griezman who plays more of a second striker and also makes a ton of runs in behind the defense? I personally would prefer Griezmann myself, but I think his style of play maybe suits us less in that Griezmans playing style wouldnt suit us as well as James. We already have a similar player in Pedro who is often less effective against teams defending in a low block. But we have nobody with the vision, passing and shooting ability that James has. And we dont have a single left footed attacker in the squadnot counting Traore on loan) and his set pieces are something we desperately lack. Overall I think James gives us more options and makes us a better, more well rounded as a team. Sanchez is a pipedream, Wenger would rather lose him om a free then sell to us

I think the source of this roumor is James himself when he pretty much said hes looking to leave and then it snowballed from there. I found it rather amusing that some claim he doesnt fit our system because hes more of a central attacker and we need a winger, then in the next breath want to sign Sanchez and Griezmann.

Its pretty clear that we are at least interested. Its been confirmed from several sources that we have at least asked around ewgardikg his availability. @PloKoon13 I agree with much of that. Especially the Mata vs Oscar comparison. Im merely stating, right or wrong, that him being picked over Mata has contributed to the critisism. There are several several points of yours I slightly disagree with, but not enough to warrant replying as Im about to sit down with a pint and enjoy a well earned week end. I will say that I rate/rated Oscar a lot less then you it would seem.

While I agree that there are some exaggeration here, youre doing pretty much exactly the same just the other way around. The year we won the title he had 4-5 excellent games before the Christmas break, after that he was woeful and a large part of why our attacking play suffered. It wasnt just because Mourinho decide we were only going to sit back, key players also disapperead and the main culprit was Oscar. That ws probably his best season as a Chelsea player and I think thats saying something. Saying he wasnt a huge talent is wrong, he clearly was, but he never managed to put it together for more then a few games before he would disappea for weeks at a time. I think most of the vitrol towards him is based on the amount of playng time he got over other players despite clearly underperforming, the amount of praise he got for his "defensive ability" and 2-3 tackles a game, the contant excuses for why he was playing like ubbish which was and the fact that Josè sold Mata, coming off one of the best individual seasons we had seen in a while, because we had Oscar . Which wasnt his faut, but it is what it is. I think fair play to him he always seemed to give his all, but I think its been Clear for a while his time has come, he needs move on for himself more then anything. Who knows, maybe a change of scenery is what he needs. Surely its the only excuse left.

Honestly I think we will be fine, if the right player comes allng then sure. But right now I dont think we need anyone. Next year Christensen is coming back so a creative and dynamic CM, a left wing back and an attacker that can olay on the right wing are were we should look to upgrade
