This is revisionist history at its finest. He was bang average first time around, scored some goals but wasted a ton of possesion almost always picked the wrong option and looked generally clueless in 1v1 situatuons. He was absolutely shocking at Liverpool. Like literally one of their worst players. Slightly better at West Ham, but overall he was poor every time I saw him. Might have been decent at Stoke/Wigan I honestly cant recall.

Imagine if Fabregas played over Matic that Tottenham game. It would be almost a foregone conclusion that Fabregas linitations defensively was the sole reason we got doninated early on and everyone in the gameday thread would be typing get him off in cap locks. Because every time someone pays Fabregas a compliment its like some sort of bat signal goes off on your phone and you try your best to downplay his contribution and telling everyone that he is actually sh*t.

As a lawyer myself who has been on the side of Chelsea in sinilar case were a settlement has been made out of court I would say a confidentiality agreement is fairly standard. Theres absolutely no way any lawyer would go along with paying off someone for a claim like this when the police have decided not to investigate. Personally I think they would be better off not paying anything, but rather allow him to go public and assist with any "investigation" the victim desired, its not like anyone associated with this is still at the club. The sceptic in me wonders why someone would wait 20+ years to come forward with this but thats another story.

You always risk players losing form when they sit out for an extended period of time. Costa already sat out during the international break, if he sits out this one he will have gone three weeks without plying when we meet Spurs and thats far from ideal
