For all his height, Matic is absolutely rubbish in the air. Probably one of the worst in the prem considering his height. So the only resl difference is Matic is larger and Verrati isnt exactly known for being bossed around physically. I do agree we need someone with better passing ability though

I think it depends on what you would refer to as "good on the ball". Next to Zouma, Cahill looks excellent. He can receive and pass it off just fine, he will never be able to ping it 40 yards on the money like Luiz, but very few can. I also think its a bit unreasonable to expect all your defenders to take it past the first line of pressure. Again, very few can actually do that. What does become a problem is when we face sides that play with a high pressure ( pretty much all the top teams) Cahill just cant cope with it in terms of passing. He has to receive the ball, look up and then decide, something teams like Spurs, City, Liverpool wont allow you. So if he doesnt lose the ball its eiher back to Courtois or a long clearence. This really hurts our build up and is a large part of why we keep invitibg so much pressure on ourselves. This was even more clear last year when he didnt have Luiz as a safety valve. Will be interesting to see if Aké can force himself into the side as his passing is already at a much higher level. Same with Andreas that hopefully comes back next year

Zouma is pretty much a RCB only, theres no way he can play on the left, he is poor enough on his right foot. Aké however is very natural on the ball, hes an excellent passer and a left foot to boot. His versatility allows him to llay at leadt 4-5 positions. Very handy to have a player like that

Hope he gets some minutes if hes recalled, would be a shame if he was just sitting on the bench after finally cracking the starting lineup for Bournemouth

This debate is boyond pointless imo, but lets not act like Kanté and Gueye had played on sinilar teams. Theres a monumental difference between the talents in those teams.

He has both terrific leaping ability and excellent timing that makes up for his height. Just look at Matic who is terrible in the air despite his height because of his poor timing and complete lack of anything resembling jumping ability.

Dont think it was as sh*t a performance as some make it out to be. Yes we lost 2-0 but its not like they dominated the full 90. Spurs away is ome of the toughest grounds to play and we just won 13 in a row. Main reason we lost was because we werent sharp enough. Hazard had a couple of huge misses, he sinks either one and its a different game. Kanté had a terrible performance, but I think that had more to do with the fact that Wanyama had possibly the best game of his life. He dominated that central midfield. Cahill once again was poor against a top side. He gives the opposition way too much time on the ball and is so scared of getting beat he would rather back pedal and try and block a shot/cross then actually close the oppoment down. We got a scare innthevopening minutes when Eriksen fired just wide and then on Allis second it was on full display with Eriksen hetting all the time in the world to put in a cross Cahill two yards off, back turned and legs in the air. All in all we have seen this before and the issues should be well known to Conte by now. He says he is working on it and I trust he will get it right. Still a long way to go, but I still think we sre in an excellent position to win the title come may.

In fairnes I dont think hes arguing that Costa isnt in the form of his life or that he isnt a huge part of our success this season. Just that we have other players this year that are also playing really well. Could have formulated himself better though, that "remove his two goals" bit didnt help either.

In fairness, Gueye is a superb player. Not saying hes better, but for the prive Everton paid hes been the best signing of the season for me

Nobody is "giving up" on anyone, why do I have to believe Zouma will be anything more then a decent player? Personally I cant see it, I think his level is decent squad player and thats it.

Dont rate Zouma as highly as many on here seem to do. While I appreciate good sliding tackle every now and then, he has way to many deficiencies for me to think he will ever be a top class player. VanDijk, Luiz and Christensen would be an immense back three imo,would love to see it happen. My only gripe with Van Dijk is his "lack f concentration" he seems to be a bit of a diva. Late getting back from corners, jogs back when losing the ball etc. Im sure Conte would set him straight though, besides that hes everthing to be a world class CB. His blend of ball skills and physical presence is extremely rare.

In fairness, the guy I quoted couldnt give two sh*ts ablut whether Batshuayi plays or not, he just wants to have a pop at the manager and will take it any way he can.
