Put in a nice crunching tackle not long before the assist last night. Really developing into a quality player and I think we could be seeing him getting some decent playing time this season... Really does have the potential to break through into the first team.

Thought he looked shaky when he came on, didn't want to get on the ball and forced Matic to bring the ball forward himself a few times, but he settled into it and that assist obviously was excellent.

 

A few times he also rushed in trying to make a tackle and ended up getting caught up the pitch, it was very David Luiz-esque.

 

Definitely lots of room for improvement still and too soon to get much more involved in the first team, but certainly has potential.

Well Jose did opt to play Zouma out of position in the holding role ahead of Ake his appearances have been limited to lower league opposition in the cups. 

 

There isn't much to suggest right now that Jose is looking to bring Ake through. 

It has been disappointing not to see him get even a sniff of a chance, especially considering our complete lack of first-team defensive midfielders in the absences of Mikel and Matic.

 

Had an injury for a while but apart from that appearance against Shrewsbury I'm not sure what he's gained from this year. He looked a real prospect before Jose came back and put in some impressive performances but he may have just wasted a couple of years of football.

Can't argue with results, but some of us would also like to see our young talent developed so that we can either sell them or use them and invest money in other areas to try and win other competitions.

What does that have to do with whether or not Mourinho is going to promote Ake or not?

 

If anything it gives more strength to the argument that Ake won't play because Jose can feel justified in using Zouma out of position ahead of a player who is more specialised to the role. 

Looks like RLC has gone ahead of him in the pecking order. We're not going to see both of them make it, hopefully RLC will get a chance and take it.
