March 26, 201511 yr Oh well he,ll probarbly end like the rest of our talented youngsters we loan out....never to return again... :(
March 26, 201511 yr I think with only 10 games left, the players pretty much selected themselves, Ake wont even make the bench. Let's hope he get some game time elsewhere. On one hand we are know we are short in numbers ( used least players in the league), on the other hand we let all decent young players go on loan. Talk about a first world problem there
March 26, 201511 yr I think with 38 games left the players selected themselves. Zouma's mid season appearances are but a dream now.
April 7, 201511 yr A quick glance at Reading forums shows that they think he's been solid. They don't really want him though as they'd rather be playing their own youth which is understandable.
April 23, 201511 yr He's back from Reading. Apparently he played five games and was given the MOTM in two of them. Reading wanted him to stay on until the end of the season but we insisted that he come back. http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/4/23/8470157/nathan-ake-reading-loan-end Steve Clarke: "Chelsea have asked for Nathan back so he goes back to Chelsea. We thank them for allowing Nathan to come and I think everyone has seen in the five games that he has played that he's a top player, and that he's got a very bright future ahead of him."
April 23, 201511 yr Interesting that we insisted on his return. Taking no chances with the run in for our final matches?
April 23, 201511 yr Saw that he got MOTM last night on Twitter. Very happy for him and I think he's got a future here because he's so versatile. Hopefully he gets some minutes this season but I also think he could see some minutes in the U21s who have a run-in that could see them top the table.
April 23, 201511 yr Interesting that we insisted on his return. Taking no chances with the run in for our final matches? Strange given Mikel is just back from injury and we seem to be using Zouma there too. I can't see him getting many minutes unless we rap up the title in the next 2 games.
April 23, 201511 yr It's possible that Mourinho is planning in case we win the title with a few games to spare - would love to see Aké, Izzy, RLC and Christensen get a few games with the first team in that event.

April 23, 201511 yr I think we will see alot of the youngsters play in the dead rubbers. So ake could get at least 180 minutes of premier league football for us. There is no way I want us to sign Cresswell for 20 odd mill, while we have ake who can cover there and dasilva who doesn't seem a million miles away.

Excellent point about Ake but I don't know if Jose sees him as a left-back. I've always thought he could be our John O'Shea though, a guy who can cover multiple positions, is homegrown and relatively cheap. That's the lowest expectation I have for him though. Wish I'd been at Reading's match last night though - Chalobah and Ake starting a professional game together in midfield
May 19, 201511 yr Good to see him getting minutes after an impressive loan at Reading. Hope he gets some more at the weekend.
May 19, 201511 yr As much of a prospect as RLC in my opinion. Always been impressed by Ake whenever I have seen him play. Seems to have bulked up a little now too, I wouldn't object to him having a years loan at a Premier League side next season, somewhere like Swansea would be great if they'd give him the minutes. Could do worse than playing at WBA actually, Jose and Pullis seem friendly enough.
May 19, 201511 yr I actually prefer lewis baker over either rlc and ake. Not sure if we will get a chance here but he was academy player the year last season.

Not sure if we will get a chance here but he was academy player the year last season. funny thing is, theyre all different players (similar enough that they can be compared to one another though) so the 3 of them can form a compatible midfield trio ake as a dm, RLC as a box to box and baker as a nr 10 Edited May 19, 201511 yr by launcher

Baker seemed to do well on loan at mk dons. It will be interesting to see what happens with him next season, I think another spell in league 1 would be counter productive, and championship and prem loans are very hit and miss.
May 31, 201511 yr This kid is simply phenomenal - can play at any position on the pitch - I still feel his best position is in the middle of the pitch
June 1, 201511 yr Rumour that he's going to Middlesbrough. Think that's a weird one. If he plays regularly then it's OK, but think he's above the level in all honesty.
June 1, 201511 yr His best position is centre back in my opinion, his reading of the game from that position is almost Carvalho-esque. Unfortunately, I don't see him playing there in this Jose team and the club seem to be turning him into a defensive midfielder, which works as well but you can see that his positioning at times there isn't as good as it is when he plays centre back. Either way, if he doesn't make it here I will actually cry.
June 1, 201511 yr Rumour that he's going to Middlesbrough. Think that's a weird one. If he plays regularly then it's OK, but think he's above the level in all honesty. To be fair he's not long since turned 20. The club said not too long ago that the general aim is for youth players to be integrated into the first team squad around the age of 22/23 as that is typically when they feel they should be developed enough to compete. Obviously there will be exceptions to that rule (RLC) but the point I am making is time is still on Ake's side, if he has a year at Boro playing regular senior football, something that he hasn't yet done, then next year the club might look to get him to a top tier side for a year either in the Premier League or maybe Germany.
