I might be seeing things through blue-tinted glasses (as always) but I genuinely believe we have better prospects than Barcelona. Messi is undeniably one of the 2 best players in the world with Ronaldo, but he can't play at this level forever and we saw last season how much they lack without him. Xavi and Iniesta are both beginning to decline, Fabregas is unsettled and La Masia's best prospect has just been sold. They have pretty much zero in defense and in the goalkeeping department and on paper, Madrid look far better and especially if they sign Bale and have Ancelotti as manager, who as we all know is brilliant. In comparison, we have nearly unlimited funding (not relying on the government), an elite manager known for his defensive coaching and one of if not the team with the best potential in the world. Alongside Luiz we have Courtois, Azpi, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Chalobah etc, which if can be properly developed would easily be one of the top teams competing for the CL. And there is a very good chance he could be at the head of the second Blue Revolution.

I understand that many of us have reservations about Lukaku's touch and whilst such an opinion is not unfounded, I would still pick him over Torres. Both men's form technical-wise may ebb and flow but Lukaku will always have his massive strength and presence. Secondly the man is terrifying. Mata and co. may scare defenders for what they hypothetically could do but Lukaku is a BEAST who at full speed would be like trying to stop a train with a barrier made of cardboard.
