I would rather have Lewandowski or Cavani but if not then I would take Rooney for £25-£30m tops. If anyone can sort out his attitude then Mourinho then would be the one and he has a winning mentality which we will need as Terry and Lampard will likely get less game time.

Mata is easily as good as Ozil, who as you said is assisting Ronaldo whilst Mata has been assisting Torres. Not to mention that the Premier League has much harder opposition defenses on the whole and even Barcelona's is pretty poor. In regards to what you said about Barcelona, Mata is better than Pedro and Messi, Xavi and Busquets play in different positions. Iniesta is also the playmaker of playmakers but Mata is much more of a goal scoring threat.

It's only a pipedream, but I would love to see Zola become assistant coach, groomed to eventually take over should Mourinho leave again.

Met RDM in about 2002, went on the tour of the Bridge and he was coming out of the NE corner just as we were leaving (what was then) the Chelsea World of Sport. My dad who stewards at the Bridge though was very lucky, after the Spurs match this year he met and got a picture with Mata, Luiz and Hazard.

I disagree with the bit about Hazard and Oscar (although I will maintain it is a big possibility). With The Special One as manager and the incredible potential in this team, whose to say we don't have the foundations of a dynasty on our hands? I may be overly optimistic but Madrid haven't even made a CL final since 2002 and seems to be filled with egos so after potentially years of success with teammates he is close too, why would he want to leave? Seeing as he joined us because we won the CL, what incentive can Madrid offer him? I would be more worried of Bayern coming in for him to replace Robben or Ribery in a few years.

Selling Mata would be the worst decision this club has ever made which as well know is quite a feat. Surely Jose is astute enough to be able to work one of the world's best players into any system. I would personally take him over Iniesta, the only equal number 10 to me is Ozil.

If we can't get Cavani then I would love to see him here. Gives Lukaku time to develop whilst not having the pressure of being the main man up front. The only potential problem would be if him and Mourinho clash as they are certainly both 'opinionated' characters.
