Romelu still looks very raw and is let down by his first touch, something that could haunt him when teams sit deep against us. Ba lacks quality but is good enough to come off the bench if we were searching for a goal. As for Torres, we'll never know which one will turn up from one match to the next. Rooney would fit our system the best and hopefully we will go all out to secure his services. It could be the difference finishing first or third.

It will be interesting to see when torres joins up with the squad how jose spreads the game time in the remaining friendlies. I think only then we will get a clearer picture

I understand that many of us have reservations about Lukaku's touch and whilst such an opinion is not unfounded, I would still pick him over Torres. Both men's form technical-wise may ebb and flow but Lukaku will always have his massive strength and presence. Secondly the man is terrifying. Mata and co. may scare defenders for what they hypothetically could do but Lukaku is a BEAST who at full speed would be like trying to stop a train with a barrier made of cardboard.

Always one that doesn't read the question........

Second guessing Jose is a difficult game, better people than me have tried & failed miserable.

So far going on pre-season which is only two games, Lukaku is streets ahead of Ba.

Jose has training stints to evaluate who he believes is ahead of the game at this stage

of pre-season, still there is a few weeks till first league game for anyone to make an impact

my opinion & belief is that we will get Rooney, who will be No1, No2 Lukaku, No3 Torres & Ba bringing up the rear,

perhaps Jose has a different take, only time will tell.

Personally I would have Torres even lower.

So you think schurrle is ahead of ba and lukaku even though he hasn't been played there once in both friendlies? Sure......

His goalscoring record is 1 in 3 for Leverkuson and Germany playing out wide.

 

Previously he was a striker at Mainz and holds their record for most Bundesliga goals in one season.

 

He's played on the left these last two years but unless Jose is thinking of bringing Hazard inside, he may struggle to start on the left for Chelsea.

With the 3 strikers mentioned I don't think there is any chance we will see schurrle upfront especially at the start of the season. I don't think jose is even considering it unless we don't sign rooney and we get a couple of injuries.

 

The rooney situation is confusing and I don't think it will end up happening. 

Lukaku has 2 from 2 in pre-season so far and Torres is on an extended break, I wouldn't be surprised to see Lukaku line up against Hull and I think he knows that that is what the fans will want to see too.

He can use Torres's extended rest as an excuse to not start him.

I think Ba will probably be 3rd.

Schurrle offers raw speed and also the ability to drop deep and link with the midfielders. He's got a much better pass and touch on him than Torres, Ba or Lukaku.

One was a pen to be fair and against teams that our league 2 teams could beat. I'm not putting the boy down but some of your are getting a little too excited.

If he can step into that role, it will have been a masterful transfer. I was always surprised more people didnt think he was going to be tried up front, but then again, I had never seen him as a striker for Leverkusen. Either way he solves a problem or he adds depth and rotation.

 

Also, Mainz's goal scoring record is 15? Wow

We have a good trio now but it is only succesful if Jose plays them in the right games AND most of all Lukaku and Ba immediately find their league scoring form. Torres is good in cups as he has a good chance of winning the 'golden boot' in those cups and he was a good impact player as well last season.

 

I wouldn't rank the players in any order but if there was a gun in my head I'd say Torres, Lukaku and Ba in this order. This is down to experience ans status.
