Sometimes just forget what they won and actually compare the player. Cesc best season for us was light years above Jorgino. There's even an argument for Mikel being better than Jorgino.

He looks good. However the jump from Eredivise is a big one as we have seen on multiple occasions.
Also, which system does Alonso want to play? If he is going for the 3-4-3 he has favored for most of his managerial career, then how does Godts fit into that? Could he play in the left half space or as a wing back? Or is he mainly a traditional winger? Many things have to be considered here, before we just buy another player, because he might be worth more in the future, than he is right now.
Alonso is already signed on as the manager, so I just hope they consult with him, before spending any more of our tranfser budget than they already did (Barco, Emegha) on "players with potential, who might help us in the future and if not, could probably be sold for a profit". We already have loads of those. We need a few players who can help us RIGHT NOW. The squad is way too bloated already.

I actually quite like a striker in Pedros mold. Very good hold up play and link up play.
For someone like him to work, we need goals from elsewhere though. If we stick with 4231, I like the idea of Palmer and Estevao sharing the RW and the number 10 with a marauding fullback right of them, a direct left winger who makes lots of runs (in the Neto or Garnacho mold, but better) and Pedro for those 3 to play off of. A bit like Firmino with Mane and Salah or Benzema when CR7 and Bale were still at RM (although Benzema is clearly better).
With Palmer not fit, Estevao not trusted/still green, and Neto and Garnacho good but not great, we're always going to be lacking goals, playing Joao Pedro as our number 9.

Not sure about that, based on how Potter did at West Ham. But certainly Poch was way better. He had us playing much better football and I think would have been interesting to see what he would have done with this team. Then again he spoke up against some decisions from the SD's so he was never going to last.

We have been good in the big games (bar Bayern) this season and for parts of last season.
It's the "small teams" who defend deep against us, we struggle against. Time to show against Leeds that we have made a step forward in that department as well...

In the modern game rotation is a fact. It's one of the reasons Arsenal are top at the moment. It's not an option when you are trying to win every competition.
Was it you who was banging on about playing Estavao last week instead of Neto? We played Neto, rested Estavao and now have him for our biggest two games of the season. Neto played well and as I've said in past he can hold that position down. He was probably the second best player on the pitch after Santos who wouldn't get a look in if you got your way.

When you really deep it, Gittens and Garnacho are mid table wingers. Just as Mudryk and Madueke were mid table wingers. Garnacho didn't have one positive metric to back on and Gittens was poor in a league where they don't defend.
It's been already mentioned but a semi retired Sterling is still the best winger at this club and the directors didn't even sign him.
