  1. I've posted about RB before on here, and a bit about Nando. Do these things really need repeating? For you though, never was a big fan of RB, and I reckon we well and truly had the best years of Nando. I was disappointed when he left but he'd been poor for far too long to turn down £50 let alone £50 million.
  2. I'm honoured. I wasn't having a dig or anything, I just quite like this site. If the truth be known, seeings though we have zero chance of winning the league for the foreseeable future I'd rather you lot won it ahead of either of the slime at the other end of the M62. Anyway, must be off, houses to rob, drugs to deal, benefits to claim.....................
  3. I see our side for what it is at the moment after such a consistantly poor record in the transfer market, and questionble managerial decisions, which is around upper mid-table but very unlikely to be able to mount a serious and regular challenge for a CL spot just yet - doesn't mean any of us are happy about it, but I recognise our situation for what it is.
  4. Weird how we've been perceived as being largely poor this season, and yet we're only 7 pts behind you now after tonight, but i think you may have a game in hand as well. Still not too bad at the moment, and if Danny S can add a few finishing touches we might get a bit more consistency from the team over the next few months. Not sure if it was that Sunderland were so bad or we were that good, but some of our football was the best it's been for ages. Obviously you won't be feeling the same after that result against QPR, but doesn't a result like this come around for all of the 'top' teams from time to time? Be interesting to see how all this pans out for the remainder of the season.
  5. The new joe cole then?
  6. Delighted that DS has signed for us, but I'm not sure itll be easy for him playing alongside Suarez, as he won't have a clue what Suarez is going to do next because I don't think Suarez does either. I do expect him to be a success though after a bit of time, providing that he isn't played at left back, or centre half! On the point of you lot signing Ba, Isn't he supposed to have some type of degenerative knee condition? It'd be the kind of scenario that if we were after him, he'd collapse in his first training session, a la Nunez style. Think that's why stoke jibbed him, although he seemed to do ok last year, so maybe it's not as bad as stoke thought.
  7. My dad is an evertonian, as is my in-law, rest of us are reds though. When i first got into football properly, bizarrely enough Chelsea were my favouite team. I remember Webb, Chopper, Bonetti, but my hero was Peter Osgood, as my dad never misses an opportunity to remind me of, even though it was around 40+ years ago. Didn't last too long like, but I always kept on eye out for how Chelsea were doing. No idea in the slightest why I would have liked Chelsea.
  8. No liverpool fan would give him the time of day. Tries to be witty but just sounds like a tedious prat. Robbin savage is a better pundit than him, and more entertaining. Think he just thinks of himself as being a bit controversial, whereas he's just a lame act really.
  9. Hopefully. I can't recall having seen too many games when he's been involved though. Seems to have quite a good goal to game ratio though. John Aldridge thinks it'll work out for him here and he'll know better than most fans. Some people are saying that £12m is a lot to pay for someone that is unproven. But borini was about £10m or £11m, Henderson £16m+. At least DS has got some stats behind his short career to date. I'll be more than happy to see him come to anfield.
  10. It surprises me the way many in the media have said that RB would get the best out of nando again. He certainly progressed him at anfield and made him one of the top forwards in Europe. But I always felt he didn't maximise what was available, and far too often Torres was playing as not only the lone striker, but also isolated as we more often than not sat too deep. Think it was RB's last season and we were away at Birmingham when he took Torres off. Gerrard asks him if he's injured and when torres shakes his head, Gerrard has a WTF expression on his face. Think towards the end of RB days at anfield it was a very different situation with Torres than it was in his first couple of years. Although he's undoubtedly got better quality players around him now, can't see RB getting torres back to anything like he was at ours.
  11. Probably right there as I don't think RA will have envisaged a team playing RB style of football after the level of investment he's made. Obviously results are what counts but the style in which they're achieved are as important to many, and cheers for those last two posts.
  12. Said those points about Rafa on here before. Anyway, shouldn't take things so seriously.................................but I was right. Night folks.
  13. Actually, I was never that big a fan. By and large hated the cautious football, and I do mean cautious as no doubt you will recognise soon. Is the problem Rafa or Roman though? If Roman left now, you're probably in a decent financial position anyway, just might not have the funds for the really big signings for a bit.
  14. We'll leave that one then ey Stevo? In answer to TD, for years I've said that it must be gawling for the lads that used to follow their team up and down the country through all the sh*te times, to be now rubbing shoulders with the glory hunters, and probably unable to get tickets for some of the bigger games. Those same glory hunters that clearly couldn't be arsed with that game.
  15. That must have taken some thinking up. Didn't come to score points either, just making an observation. When people start braying about loyalty, that was just a bit of a joke. As I said I also fully respect people that went, and that followed their team through the pre Roman days. Believe ne, we know-all about bandwagon jumpers. Out of interest 'Stevo' - did you go to that one?
  16. On the point of booing your own players or team, has that gone much at SB in recent years? Can't stand it myself, and would prefer that people stay away if they feel like that. Can't recall it happening at anfield this season, but has happened too often in previous seasons. Doesn't achieve anything anyway, apart from in all likelihood making players even worse for confidence.
  17. He's been getting away with this kind of thing for over two decades now. People used to get charged with bringing the game into disrepute, but it was classed as 'mind games' with him, and the media just lapped it up, and begged for more. Be interesting to see how they get on when demento is no longer at the helm.
  18. And now she's thinking 'there's thirty seconds of my life I'll never get back'. :)
  19. I think there's been a number of people that have done that, maybe not opposition managers though. It was probably aimed at the celeb', band wagon jumpers, that like the association now you've been successful. The mancs have suffered in the same way, as will citeh in future years. We've had our own share of celeb gobsh*tes over the years. I've always said that clubs will always have a core of support that have been through it all, and not just the good times, and that it must majorly piss people off in the same way that we're sick of day trippers with their cameras. From the clubs point, they are a good source of revenue. To us they're mainly a joke. But from Benitez point, he'd see our support, and then when he sees Yours, with giveaway plastic flags, it must have seemed a bit weird. I'm not defending him here as I don't see it as the managers role to criticise other clubs support, as we are able to do that perfectly well ourselves, but it was just maybe how he'd see things. Anyway, i'll be surprised if you are any more successful with him than any of the others that your mate has hired and quickly fired.
  20. Out of genuine interest, and not TTP, what did Benitez say about Chelsea fans in particular that's got everyone there so wound up? Or was it comments about the club that have done it? When he left us, I wasn't too disappointed. Was sick of the cautious football. Only time he really played concerted attacking football was a couple of months towards the end of the 08/09 season when the league was there for the taking but we failed. The following season he reverted to type.
