Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
His signing alone was worth it just to see scousers foaming at the mouth that 'THEIR TROPHY' you know the one they won FIVE TIMES LAAAAA ended up in his hands. Torres won the European Cup you scouse bar stewards, remember that. Anyway I don't think he deserves the hate. He put a lot of effort in for our club, but was on the wane when we signed him due to the dippers' poor handling of his injuries the season before. And his goals in the Nou Camp and Amsterdam are up there amongst my Chelsea memories. His goals record in cup competitions was actually not that bad, just his Premier League record that really stank.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Wouldn't mind another striker but listening to Jose speaking you can tell he feels he's got the squad he wants now.

Can we do the double?
The league will do me fine.

Our role -party poopers
League over CL any day now. Simply because those horrible bar stewards CAN'T win it. We have to stop them at all costs. Had City been on to win it I'd have taken another European Cup but LFC winning the league? GOD NO. We need to save humanity.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
What we've seen so far is so typical Jose. We've not fired on all cylinders bar 1 or 2 games (Southampton home and away, dippers at home) yet we're there, right where we want to be. We've a group of players with a winning mentality for big games, and a manager with the winning mentality for bread and butter league football. I think we'll be smiling in May.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Pleased he got the goal yesterday. Funnily enough if you just counted cup competitions his goal record for us would be up there with the best of them, but his lack of Premier League goals is where he's always fallen short.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
The Fernando Torres of Liverpool didn't win anything. The Fernando Torres of Chelsea already has three shiny cups on his CV, and but for a cruel game of penalty area pinball, would have had a fourth at the start of the season. :)

Your most celebrated goal?
Torres at the Nou Camp if we're talking about goals during 90/120 minutes. Hysteria. Drogba's penalty only surpasses it.

Brilliant. Has Jose unlocked the man of old.

The Davy Moysie Thread
I wouldn't trust Moyes to win any trophy. We beat some weak sides en route to the EL final but if Moyes was in charge I don't think we'd have got near it.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Hilarious how quick the media were to get their pens/laptops out after the Basel hiccup. The results since that game have put them back in their box. Jose is doing just fine and I think we'll be in the running for the two biggest prizes come the spring.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
The main reason he gets stick, and perhaps justified, is his Premier League goal return for us. The Prem's the bread and butter. His scoring record in cup competitions is pretty formidable, and he's pierced the net of some of Europe's giants.

Chelsea v Bayern (UEFA Super Cup) 30/8/13 KO 19:45 GMT
That game felt like a European Cup final. Absolutely gutted we didn't get it, it would have been a great prize to add to the collection. Plenty of positives though.

All the bad stuff that's thrown at this club, we still fight through it! We deserve much more good luck. Do you agree?
We haven't had much bad stuff really have we? Despite our instabilities we've continued to win shiny pots. Even this season just gone was chaotic yet only United and Swansea could say they had a better one taking all of it into account. But now it would be nice to have a stable period under Jose where the continuity makes everything move in a fluid direction.

REALISTIC expectations for next season.....
BTW it's not an expectation it's a hope, that we can knock over Bayern again in August and banish the memory of the Atletico game.

REALISTIC expectations for next season.....
We're a world class striker away from winning the league. We've got the man with the mentality and staying power to win league championships, and our squad is excellent. I make us favourites, especially as we're not changing an awful lot, we're simply bringing back somebody proven while both the Manchester clubs are going in new, risky directions.

Thank You Mr Roman Abramovich
Yup, well in. Now please let Jose work, build and create.

He's been confirmed by Napoli. So that's it. Adios Rafa, adios thread

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
From Sunderland away till the Europa League got underway he was awful. However, Liverpool mismanaged his injuries and that is what caused his decline. He has adapted well though, and become a more intelligent player and more of a team player. He shouldn't be first choice next season. If Falcao comes, he will be. However a trio of Falcao, Torres and Lukaku/Ba will be a force. I know some hate him and slate his effort but I can't agree. He puts a lot into it, but he's not the same player we faced in his scouse prime. Whatever happens, his goals won us the Europa League and his place in our history is assured

Jose's style of play
We'll be a mix I reckon. Iron-clad defensively like his 04-07 team, but with the flair of the Three Amigos on the counter attack.
-
The nightmare is over a new seasons begins
We'll be fine. And although the season was difficult, only Man Utd and maybe Swansea could look back on it and say they had better campaigns taking all things into account.

Super Cup
Should be a great, great game. And I think playing Bayern will be good for us. No disrespect to Atletico and Falcao kicked the sh*t out of us back in August but I don't think we ever had the right attitude or motivation, whereas facing Bayern, and Pep, with Jose as manager, we'll be chomping at the bit from the word go. Also Jose's never won it before, which is strange. Lost to Milan as Porto boss in 2003 after his UEFA Cup win, but he left both his clubs when he won the Champions League. A mirror image of 2010, when he set Rafa up for the Club World Cup, the favour is returned here.

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
A world class striker PLUS Torres and Ba/Lukaku would be just fine for next season, IMO. Torres will never be a prolific Prem scorer anymore, but he can still chip in with his share while said world class striker bags the bulk of them.

Was Tiago a flop? And your flops XI?
AVB was the right man for our club, but at the wrong time. Once all of Jose's remnants have finally waded into the sunset, then would have been the right time. I do think some of our senior players were out of order towards him, but they more than compensated for that in the two months that followed.

The Rafa Benitez Thread (merged)
I'd have thought PSG would be a better option for him. Easy league title for his CV, and in two seasons he'd have a squad that could challenge for the CL.
