abramovich Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Chelsea sign Gokhan Tore Chelsea have snapped up Turkish youth international Gokhan Tore. The 17-year-old German-born winger arrived from Bayer Leverkusen, where he has been since the age of five. Tore has agreed a three-and-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge and joins the Chelsea academy with immediate affect. Meanwhile, another youngster Vincenzo Camilleri has left the club. Chelsea caused uproar in Italy when they lured the central defender away from Reggina at the age of just 15. Reggina reported the English side to Fifa and Uefa, but there was little they could do to prevent the move last year, However, after less than a year the club have allowed Camilleri to depart and he is heading back to Reggina. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Never heard of him but always ready to welcome the young talent. As for Camilleri, what a letdown after so much trouble over his signing.
midlandblue Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 also heard that the young lad who won a contract with us through a TV show has gone on laon to Robbie for a month
Maksimov Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Hmmm...there doesn't seem to be much information about this Turkish kid.

Hope to see plenty from this guy, although, as he's a winger, it would be nice to see some half-decent crosses. First things first.

LFS Moustache Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 (edited) Hello, I would like to introduce myself, as you can see, I'm LFS Moustache (good isn't it) and he will be another Stoch so hopefully he will get called up, only 17, but Kakuta's done it, why can't he. Maybe another few years yet but I'm looking forward to seeing him for the youth team, is he eligible for the Youth Cup? Oh by the way, Maksimov, if you read the post by Backbiter you'll see what Tore means.;) Edited January 30, 2009 by LFS Moustache
abramovich Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Apparently his name is written like this: Gökhan Töre. No idea what "töre" means, though. I checked Turkish to English translation and the definition was "good enough for a loan spell in the Championship". Needless to say, I'm very excited.
Maksimov Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Oh by the way, Maksimov, if you read the post by Backbiter you'll see what Tore means.;) Yeah, I know "TORE" means goals, but what does "TÖRE" mean? Here's some info on him: http://www.gokhantore.com/EN/index.php?opt...=2&Itemid=3
Scott Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If he was born in Cologne wouldn't he be German?
Maksimov Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If he was born in Cologne wouldn't he be German? There are a lot of Turkish people living in Germany. I guess he could apply for a German citizenship as he's lived there for so long, though. As a sidenote...Forssell was born in Germany as well, but he's a Finnish citizen.

dkw Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 he`ll never play for the first team, be loaned out to a lower league, be sold cheap to arsenal etc, etc. blah blah blah......
Backbiter Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Yeah, I know "TORE" means goals, but what does "TÖRE" mean? Here's some info on him: http://www.gokhantore.com/EN/index.php?opt...=2&Itemid=3 The online Turkish dictionary I found gives no meaning for TÖRE, so we'll stick with the German meaning.
PloKoon13 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I think if you take the umlaut into account, his first name is pronounced something like 'Gherkin' :P
dkw Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I think if you take the umlaut into account, his first name is pronounced something like 'Gherkin' :P so now hes called umlaut and not tore......this thread confuses me...... :P im gonna call him umlaut from now on.
evissy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 so now hes called umlaut and not tore......this thread confuses me...... im gonna call him umlaut from now on. :D As interested I am what his name means and how it is pronounced would be nice to see what he is capable of...
Scott Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 At 17 I would bet we won't be seeing him play other than youth games, for a long while.
Dave McD Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Screw that, we need a winger. Lets put him straight in the first team!
.Williamson. Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 but hes 17? :D that pretty much does mean we won't see him at all for about 2-3 years at least
blizeH Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Why not though? Kakuta's 17 and I'd pick him above Malouda or Kalou right now. If this lad is actually any good, why not give him a chance? Why not start Stoch? Why not give Kakuta a run out? Arghhh
.Williamson. Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I believe scolari is the reason why not mate :D
