Posted March 31, 200916 yr Am I wrong to assume that Hiddink's football philosophy descended from the Dutch total football philosophy? That his belief is based on everyone expected to do their job and more in every aspect of the game, with the exception in between the posts? Hence, may i associate him with strong attacking flair like those he selected for Russia or Korea? Players like Zhirkov, Panluychenko & Arshavin? After the back-to-back title winning years, Chelsea stand at the crossroad of renewal. Many 30+ players such as Ballack, Deco or Drogba may be sacrificed in favour of youth which explained our reported interest in Daniel Sturridge & Ashley Young. I feel that 2 players may fit into his scheme of things. Firstly, the return of Robben from Real will be welcomed. Robben was very popular with us but injury-prone. Furthermore, Mourinho's style means limited appearance or cameo act for the Dutchman. Robben's presence in the past has always given us option to unlock defence and he has another 4 more years before hitting the big 30. I loathed to see him go to Man City or the Scousers. Secondly, Dutch playmaker Van Der vaart may fulfill midfield duties with Lamps. While Lamps is more of a box-to-box roaming midfielder, Deco failed in his role as playmaker. Essien or Mikel had to do that limited in a defensive posture, thus exposing our midfield holding space. Van Der Vaart has good respect for Hiddink so may be persuaded to switch camp. While these players may have lost badly in the CL to Liverpool, Real's performance in that game lacked discipline and is not representative of talented players who can make a difference in the game. Hence, I would like to see their additions , along with Yuri Zhirkov, Vagner Love and Jo.

I don't think he is proven...especially for a team who desires to win the league.
March 31, 200916 yr I wouldn't go near Wagner Love or Jo. I perdict both would flop harder than G4 at the local swimming baths. I don't see any point bringing in two new strikers as it would appear Drogba is staying and we probably still have Anelka and Di Santo as a prospect. Bring in a further two and we will have 4 strikers who will all want a first team place and a youngster who may as well pack his bags and leave.
March 31, 200916 yr I liked Robben very much and at best he was brilliant, best player in the Prem. I wouldn't want him back though. In Spain he has more time and space to do what he does best and there are far less big defenders who just wait their chance to kill players like Robben. Still he doesn't score hatfull of goals.. He is too selfish for a winger. He has frustrated me so many times with dribbling brilliantly past 3 players only to shoot the ball from impossible angle towards the goalie. He should have passed the ball to one of the 3 players who are now looking at him with anger and frustration. Van der Vaart is a player I always wanted to join us and still do. He is very much like Lampard although Frankie is still more humble and takes his defending duties seriously. We need someone to follow Lamps' footsteps and maybe this dutchman is the answer. Ditch Ballack and Deco and bring in VDV. Zhirkov I would also welcome with open arms. He is a player we should have bought years ago or before we bought Malouda anyway.

He`s type of a striker who could play alone up-front, opposite to Wagner, who is very technical, agile and prefer to play from the deep. So, I think, we could//should sign Jo, it`s a question of time for him to adapt in England and also he already has CL expirience. It`s better to sign him now for adequate fee, then to refuse or to overpay for his move later. I truly believe he could be like Drogba or Anelka few years later, getting match practise of course. And I don`t know who Di Santo is. Had I the chance to change it? No...... P.S. Have you seen Robben against Scots last week-end? Terrific perfomance, like on his best days at Chelsea....

I`ll disagree with you Dkw. First of all, Jo is already playing at Everton and doing well there from what I`ve heard recently. If you think they should simply lack pace or power you`re simply wrong or haven`t seen enough of their perfomance. If the striker scores 30 goals a season, I`m talking about Wagner, (on Russian vegetable fieds in spring and autumn) in Russian PL (not the easiest competition on the planet) it means he can score and he has pace and agility. Pavlyuchenko, for exapmle, struggled to score more 18, though personally for me it means nothing. About Di Santo I mean I`ve never seen playing him for the first team. And the fact is - not every youngster is fated to promote to the first team. So, on this basis (it calls prejudjing, but anyway) I`d prefer the player with better records and who is also young - Jo.
March 31, 200916 yr Agreed, Sergy, that not every yougster is first team material, far from it in fact, especially at CFC. But for once we do actually have a young striker in Di Santo, who actually looks like he might, might be good enough, and for that reason alone surely he deserves a go? We all want to see young talent come through the ranks, and unless we place some faith in them, as opposed to buying buying buying, then this will simply never happen.

March 31, 200916 yr All these players with the exception of Robben are not good enough. We need to be looking at better strikers like David Villa and Benzema, not Jo and Vagner Love. Robben would be a far better option then Zhirkov too, Van der Vaart is pretty useless too.

But totally, you`re absolutely right, let`s sign Villa, Aguero, Ribery, Robben and Silva. J 200 mln will be enough I think. By the way first you`ve compared Zhirkov with Ronaldinho, now you`re comparing him with Robben. And even Robben`s injury proneness and the lack of consistiency and defensive abilities (plus the fact you`ve not seen Zhirkov) make no hesitations for you to say 'Robben, any day of the fu*king week'.
March 31, 200916 yr P.S. Have you seen Robben against Scots last week-end? Terrific perfomance, like on his best days at Chelsea.... And he got himself injured again (although he might recover in time for the Wednesday match)...
April 2, 200916 yr Author The reality is that there isn't any perfect player and they are only human and will be entitled to 1 or 2 off-days. Di Santos have not really impressed me, the way say Aaron Ramsey or Walcott do. He is still a work-in-progress but I feel that he will only mature into a second grade Premiership player, the type playing for Bolton or Blackburn. I am also sure that some of us got it wrong regarding Jo. CSKA Moscow benefitted well in Europe with his service. He is not crappy at all. He can be every bit as physical as Drogs & he possesses sublime touch to score on his debut for Everton. http://footballblips.dailyradar.com/video/...ton_highlights/ In his short stint, he has done more than I have seen of Malouda in a full season ! I am glad that we have many consensus on Zhirkov and Robben. I think many fans also failed to see Robben making a difference in important games for Chelsea. His mere presence in coming on and applying pace changes the dynamics of a game especially when we are struggling to get the ball into the opponent's half. Other than Lamps, Drogs, carvalho or JT, there are very few Chelsea players who can hold on to the ball for more than 10 seconds in a game. malouda is crap because he either loses possession after trying to dribble or he makes back passes. Anelka is in this category whenever he faces a top 4 team. He always never turned up except when scoring goals for fun against lesser teams. The verdict is still open for RVV but I think he will become another Dutch revolution at the Bridge, similiar to the stories at Emirates stadium http://www.goalvideoz.com/watch/10940-Holl...alifier%202010/ Edited April 2, 200916 yr by octville

April 8, 200916 yr I saw a Dutch revolution in a nice theatre in Amsterdam. A very supple young lady spinning on a policeman's truncheon. With a big smile on her face. And no foundation garments whatsoever. But man, could she spin. I think her name was Valerie, but I can't be sure about that because she had her mouth full when she told me. Ahhh, happy days kev
