as one of the untouchables, I assumed claude was in love with jose like everyone else...not according to his autobiography:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5344601,00.html

obivously that last season became tense between jose and roman and he did emphasise his achievements a lot more cos of it...like when he held his fingers up at wembley to say how many trophies he'd won...to be fair he had a point...and we've won nothing since (hope that changes next week)

Doesn't really say much that a lot of us didn't feel, but an interesting article, and thanks for sharing.

I think this further perpetuates the belief that lots of us had about Jose: Great manager, comes in, makes people believe that they are Champions, builds that belief, and then moves on when his ego overtakes that of the rest of the club.

I seriously wonder if we will ever see jose at a club anymore than 3 or 4 seasons; I think even 4 would be a stretch. He is succesfull, and I presume he always will be, but it will always be all about Jose.

I am glad of what he brought to us, but I do wonder if he'd still be here had he and Roman even got on well?

the untouchables fiasco was one of his biggest mistakes (although they were few) in terms of squad morale, and also when certain players were named that the fans didn't agree with it put more spotlight onto them.

remember that portuguese guy who turned up when we got jose? he said basically what scott says in this thread.

read the comments earlier and was very surprised though- and he does say it was bliss for two years as well, after all.

None of what Maka says should really come as a great surprise to anyone and I think it was only a matter of time before someone leaked some info on how things were at Chelsea during that era (both postive and negative). Even less of a surprise that it was Maka as he is someone who doesn't have a career or a reputation to protect.

It does, to some extent, dilute this idea that Jose did everything to take the pressure off the players which is a claim have never bought into.

on the other hand maybe maka only wrote that because he wants to see liam post a bit more.

Not surprised in the least. Jose's ego is both his gift and his curse. He is a terrific motivator and man-manager but he lacks flexibility necessary to last longer than a few years in the same position. I don't think he'll serve the full length of the contract at Inter, either.

No neither do I but does it really matter if you're a fan?

If you were given the choice of say 3 years of pretty much constant success and but then the coach leaves to ten years of indifferent performances by the same one - which coach would want to have a chair when the music stopped?

That's Jose the good and bad. When he was brilliant he was the dogs bo**ocks and when he wasn't it could all go a bit Pete Tong.

I don't blame him if his ego did get out of control, he had won so much by then at such a relatively young age that it was no surprise if it all when a bit to his head and throw in the pressures of dealing with Roman every day and who can blame him?

yet more revelations from maka saying jt was responsible for jose going...i remember there was a story at the time saying the same thing and it was buried among legal complaints from jt and his people..now maka is saying the same thing...mmm...no smoke without fire and I must admit as good a player as he can be, I have been concerned about the amount of power he seems to have

What effect this might have had on Chelsea's preparations for tomorrow's FA Cup final against Everton at Wembley remains to be seen.

What possible effect could a story like that have on the final, what idiots!

That report was in The Observer, by Duncan Castles. The Observer later printed a retraction. It's fascinating to read Maka's version. It's the first I've ever heard of JT asking for a move.

Here's the Times report:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle6391102.ece

But Chelsea last night denied that their captain had ever made such a request, while Terry issued a statement through his lawyers describing all the allegations as categorically untrue. It is understood that Mourinho also contacted Terry yesterday, pledging to deny publicly rumours that the player was responsible for his departure.

“I thought Mourinho was practically untouchable, but a lot of players had complained about him, notably John Terry,†Makelele writes. “When John Terry let his discontent be known to Kenyon and asked him for an immediate transfer, Abramovich reacted immediately: the departure of Terry was totally unimaginable, from the point of view of the supporters, the players or the club owners. Mourinho was asked to pack his bags.â€

This was in September 2007. I know JT has a lot of clout, but could he really expect the board to overturn the transfer regulations and create his own September transfer window?

Proof enough that Maka is talking sh!te here.

Has the book been published in Britain yet? If not, I expect there will be some rather hasty revisions being made as we speak due to rather obvious reasons.
