I think it's only fair that Spain and Italy are playing in the tournament. They are the World and European champions afterall.

The opening match has been pretty boring so far. Nervous play from both teams in the first half.

South Africa should have won it, very unfortunate block by their own man on the goal line. I'm excited for the next 3 matches, should see plenty of goals in Spain v. New Zealand.

USA one up against Italy at half time despite being on the wrong end of a poor straight red card decision by the ref. Not only that the American goal was from a penalty which should also have seen Chiellini sent off. Despite being a man down the US havemore than held thier own so far and have created the better chances.

Sloppy defending for Italy's two goals.

Also another STRONG penalty shout which was denied to the Americans. f**king Chilean ref. Defender completely took out our striker and he missed the ball completely.

Brilliant goals from Rossi. Never saw him play before. Great build-up from Pirlo to Rossi's second. Classy player that Pirlo but still don't want us to buy him.

Wasn't Howard's day. One of my favorite goalies but he was well beaten and twice from a distance.

Is it me, or does Howard get beaten by more long shots than anyone?

Also, those horns that are constantly being blown during the matches are soo annoying.

I'm a bit torn about the horns actually. Yes, they are slightly annoying if you have to listen to them for 90+ minutes. On the other hand I think it's great to hear the audience during the entire game and they also seem to genuinly happy to be there. Doesn't matter who scores the goal, if there are any goals at all or who wins or if it's a "boring" 0-0 draw, they seem to have the time of their life anyway. Great to see. Still, those horns could give you a severe headache ::clap2::

Top game from Pirlo today.

he really is an exquisite player. shame his age will mean he either wont sign for us or give us enough game time. i would love to have seen him at chelsea a few years ago. his set up for rossis second goal was absolutely brilliant.

But listening to those horns is like having a hangover without having drank a drop of alcohol.

Yea...well try listening to them WITH a hangover!

The Brazilians are really annoying me in this match, blatant dives with no contact all over. And its the same officials as the last USA match, these guys are incompetent.

Anyone planning to watch Brazil-Italy? Whom are you putting your money on?

I know Italy have been woeful so far but I think they will turn up for this one. In the end, Brazil will nick it most probably.

So, I'll say Brazil 2 italy 1.

Hoping for a good match with classic Brazilian football on display against the convetional defensive style of the Italians. Now, that makes it interesting! ;)
