Posted June 30, 200915 yr http://www.expressandstar.com/2009/06/30/d...ew-albion-boss/ Reports are circluating that Alan Irvine turned them down but then this has just been released by the local paper. Good luck to him, im sure we all agree. He had a great first season at MK Dons who im sure will be gutted, West Brom seem very well run - plenty worse clubs he couldve moved too.
June 30, 200915 yr If he gets it, i am over the moon for the guy.........moving up in the world and deservedly so!
June 30, 200915 yr Good for Robbie! and Eddie too. They have a great chance there to bring the Baggies back up.
June 30, 200915 yr Robbie D is probably the ex player I would most like to see in charge of Chelsea at some stage in the future (yes even more han Zola) so I think this is a great (and sensible) step in the right direction. I much prefer to see people learn their trade steadily whilst rising through the ranks than people going straight form playing into a top flight job.
June 30, 200915 yr Awesome news, couldnt have happened to a nicer guy. There are quite a few Southern European managers making hay in the Championship and L1 these days
June 30, 200915 yr http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5408378,00.html Roberto Di matteo has been announced as the manager of WBA. Awesome news, hope we get to play them at some point this season. It'll be interesting to see what he does, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see him back here. Him and Super Dan, or Zola and Clarke would be ideal....or any combo of those 4 Scott Edited June 30, 200915 yr by mad_mac
June 30, 200915 yr I'm happy for Robbie, hopefully it's just another step up the ladder for him. It's nice to see more and more ex-Blues getting managerial positions in various clubs. Whenever Ancelotti leaves, hopefully one of Franco,Robbie D or Sparky will be ready to take his place.
July 1, 200915 yr brilliant news. i honestly believe robbie has all that is needed to make it as a coach at the highest level, hopefully with us.
July 1, 200915 yr great news for both parties, I usually pop dowm the Hawthorns 5 or 6 times a season, might make it more now.

Hopefully Sparky proves the doubters wrong and is a viable candidate by that time, too It would be great to see three ex-blues in charge of prem teams next year. Maybe Claudio will pick up a job in England too
July 1, 200915 yr looks like we can all watch his opening fixture. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...v_1/8124105.stm

Also, Robbie D is coaching WBA...who were relegated, so we won't see him in the prem next season
July 2, 200915 yr Let's hope he turns West Brom into a powerhouse. And not just a Championship one this time. From what I can tell, he's done a damn good job with the MK Dons, so I see no reason why he shouldn't be successful.
July 2, 200915 yr You also need to remember that there is Super Dan Petrescu who just won the Romanian League with a complete underdog side. This. Of all the ex-players we have currently managing other teams SuperDan stands out by quite a considerable mile for me.
July 2, 200915 yr great stuff- like west brom and dislike mk dons so wonderful news all round. hope to see him back with them at the bridge in a years time.
July 3, 200915 yr This. Of all the ex-players we have currently managing other teams SuperDan stands out by quite a considerable mile for me. Yeah Super Dan has done so well, and when they interviewed him after winning the Romanian League he was asked if he would leave Romania to coach another team. I can't remember his reply exactly but it was something along the lines of "I still needd to learn and develop as a coach, but if I were to leave Romania, it would only be for Chelsea!" I'd love to have him and Robbie as our coaches
