After stumbling accross this article it got me thinking what my favourite 11 of the last 10 years would be. And here it is:

Cech - Easily the best keeper we've had since Bonetti, let alone the last 10 years, with Carlo a close second.

Ferreira - Very consistent right-back who always defended brilliantly whoever he played against.

Gallas - Yes, we all hate him, but his partnership was one of the best partnerships the Premiership had ever seen, and for that reason, he's in.

JT - No need for an explanation.

Essien - One of the best midfielders we've ever had, and one of the best in the world.

Duff - Him and Robben were just insane on the flanks for us.

Robben - Could unlock defences with his lightning pace and skill. Was gutted to see him go.

Lampard - No need for an explanation.

Zola - No need for an explanation.

Drogba - He's just outstanding at hassling defenders and winning headers and making spaces for the on running Lampard/Robben/Duff. One of the best.

I started thinking about this and realized that 10 years ago was only 1999.... I was thinking about Eddie Newton, Clarke, and quite a few others that were not playing after 99.

Ok, not the paciest team in the world...

Le Saux was absolutely superb, but Cole is better, I'm quite surprised everyone hasn't picked him...

Le Saux was defensively better and crossed the ball better. Ashley's been great, but I'd still pick Le Saux instead of him.

I would just love to see the Franco-DD attack in action.

Le Saux and Ashley was close but opted for Ashley, same about Maka and the bison

The only two decisions I thought were tough was whether to have Desailly or Gallas and choosing between Chappie and Petrescu. The Desailly vs Gallas decision was due to the fact that as a partnership Gallas and Terry were perfect for each other and so if you were picking a team it makes perfect sense to pair them up however watching Desailly in a Chelsea shirt was nothing short of joy.

No Super Dan? He left in 2000, into this decade - disgrace!

For me super Dan should be in that team, Ferrer is the next best choice, Johno third with Paulo in fourth, Melchiot would be fifth at best.

Mario Melchiot (1999-2004)

The athleticism of roaming right-back Melchiot quickly became apparent following the Dutchman's 1999 switch from boyhood club Ajax. An injury-ravaged first season ensured intermittent appearances, but Melchiot played his part in a memorable FA Cup final in 2000, in which the west London side defeated Aston Villa due to a sole goal from Roberto Di Matteo. Melchiot was a consistent performer and went on to be first-choice for the right berth of defence for four further seasons. Since then, Chelsea have tried many replacements, such as Paulo Ferreira, William Gallas, Juliano Belletti, midfielders Lassana Diarra and Michael Essien, and also Jose Bosingwa, but not one has left as much of a sustained impression as Mario.

Super Dan at RB, Le Saux at LB, and swap Jimmy with Guddy and it's not too bad. I just don't see Drogba and Jimmy performing well together in a 4.3.3
