Posted September 11, 200915 yr just heard from a mate that zhirkov is needing surgery and will be out for 6 months, which is a bit sh*t. not only do we lose a player we really needed, i had a bet with my mate that zhirkov would score more goals than arseshaving. bugger.
September 11, 200915 yr Thats real bad news. But as far as your bet is concerned, even Arshavin is out for sometime, not as long as Zhirkov but still a straw to clutch?
September 11, 200915 yr Hopefully it's just a rumour. Search "Zhirkov Injury" and you'll find a whole load of Zhirkov dismisses knee surgery fears type stories. This one from VitalFootball, also states that Zhirkov is targeting the T*tt*nh*m game for his League debut: Chelsea - Zhirkov Injury LatestAmongst the furore surrounding FIFA's ludicrous decision to suspend Chelsea from transfer activity until 2011, our newest signing, and perhaps our last addition for some time, Yuri Zhirkov, has been speaking about his pain at failing to have made his debut for the Blues yet. Zhirkov, 26, an £18m summer signing from CSKA Moscow, has spent the past six weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury and, despite travelling with the Russia squad for this week's internationals, is not expected to feature for Guus Hiddink's side. Speaking about the problem, the Russian has said, 'My knee is still hurting me, but it is better than two weeks ago when it was agony even to step on the foot.' "I wish I had a usual kind of injury when I would know exactly that, say, in a month it will all be over.' "But when I can`t fully comprehend my situation, and even the doctors do not say anything definitively, it is unbearably hard. My biggest dream now is to wake up one day and realise that the pain in my knee is all but gone." The left-sided winger is eyeing a return for the home London derby with Sp*rs on the 20th September, after failing to feature since the pre-season clash with AC Milan in the States.
September 11, 200915 yr It's in the rumours sections on SSN site - it states that Zhirkov considers knee operation which can make him unavailable for up to six months.. Really hope it's not true
September 11, 200915 yr no actually i tell a lie 2 of my mates had a bet on season before last (i think). 1 clown thought that michael chopra wouldn't outscore no goals nugent lol
September 11, 200915 yr Author that's an awful bet lol why is it an awful bet? before the season i was pretty confident zhirkov was going to play a big part in our season and for me arshavin is a very hit or miss player. hes either a big part in arsenals game or totally anonymous.
September 11, 200915 yr Thats awful for yuri, I actually have a problem with my knee that doctors/ surgery havent been able to solve so i feel his pain. Been really looking forward to seeing him play in the prem, think he has the potential to be a great player for us. I had heard him say he thought he would be alright for burnley.

I haven't watched that much of Arsenal, but he kinda strikes me as one of their most consistent players. I might be wrong, though.. Anyway, I think this is just a rumour as it's not on the OS yet and there's no reason to keep it hidden. Lets hope he makes his debut soon. Wouldn't it be nice if he scored (again) on his official debut against Tottenham ? Edited September 11, 200915 yr by Virosh
September 11, 200915 yr This is surely a rumor, whoever posted the Guus interview proves it with ease. Guus said that he fully trained with the Russian squad and looks good to make a return, which completely contradicts this story.
September 11, 200915 yr Hm.. May be it's not that bad after all: http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1794148,00.html Yury Zhirkov also remains out with a knee injury. 'At the moment we don't think that he needs surgery,' says Ancelotti. 'He didn't play with the national team because he wasn't fit enough but he is improving. He is working with the team and next week we have to control his body and if he improves, he can start to play matches.' Edited September 11, 200915 yr by b00gamaster
September 11, 200915 yr goin by that he doesn't sound close maybe surgery is the best option to fully clear the problem. that is when they figure out what what it is
September 11, 200915 yr Agreed. As much as I am impatient to see him play, surely it makes more sense to just have the op and clear things up properly while we're playing well and don't 'need' him as much, and try and get him absolutely 100% fit for later in the year ahead of our boys heading off to the ACN.
September 11, 200915 yr He took part in today's training: http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/90594811/Chelsea-FC
September 11, 200915 yr and seems to have grown 2 more legs, which is handy. :D True Carlo's Milan Lab is already working I guess.. I wonder if Mikel can get optical sights to improve his shooting
September 11, 200915 yr Author and seems to have grown 2 more legs, which is handy. brilliant, and whoevers behind him seems to be doing a bit of "kung fu fighting". good to see him in training, cant wait to see his debut for us.

Probably because he scored a whole 15 goals in 139 games for CSKA :D Arshavin is also a forward player, will score many more goals. Zhirkov is a much more traditional winger, a bit like Damien Duff.
September 12, 200915 yr Probably because he scored a whole 15 goals in 139 games for CSKA :D Arshavin is also a forward player, will score many more goals. Zhirkov is a much more traditional winger, a bit like Damien Duff. I'm expecting Zhirkov to be more like Robben minus the incredible selfishness. His assist column must be very good for CSKA. Robben more than often chose to shoot from anywhere instead of passing. Zhirkov is more humble and will gladly give the glory of scoring to a team mate. Hope he recovers soon!
September 12, 200915 yr and seems to have grown 2 more legs, which is handy. He has one more leg than Makelele then. Maybe he is destined for stardom with Chelsea.

To add to that, there have been many quotes from people who work in or follow the Russian League which basically stated "Zhirkov is going to take the Premiership by storm just like Arshavin has" and claiming he was even better than the little man. On top of that, he scored some great individual goals in Russia, and he is bigger than Arshavin. The major thing that, I believe, goes in Arshavin's favor is who he plays for. Arsenal can take any good to great player into their system and seemingly make them appear world class.
September 15, 200915 yr just realised the mistake ive made, its not a bet based on goals scored but on the SUNs fantasy football scores. so i should have a much better chance now. He's got one goal in the one match he's played for us so far, so if he can keep it up, you might still win that bet!
