Drogba has a broken rib

Featured Replies

Blues hit by crock crisis

DIDIER DROGBA has rocked Chelsea with news he will be out for three weeks with a broken rib.

He sustained the injury in last week's win over Manchester United.

Drogba joins Ashley Cole, Jose Bosingwa and Frank Lampard on the injury list.

And skipper John Terry limped out of England training yesterday with a swollen ankle, making him a doubt for the friendly with Brazil.

But Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti will be more concerned about the huge Premier League clash at Arsenal in two weeks.

A scan carried out by the club showed Drogba suffered only bruising after clashing with United defender Jonny Evans.

But SunSport can reveal a further X-ray done by Ivory Coast doctors confirmed the worst.

Drogba reported for international duty but will return on Monday for treatment.

Chelsea hope Lampard will be back within a month after the midfielder suffered a thigh tear on England duty.

Left-back Cole has a depressed fracture of the shin and right-back Jose Bosingwa is out for three months after knee surgery.

Chelsea face Wolves in the league and FC Porto in Europe before going to Arsenal.

From The Sun

All these injuries, I'm starting to get worried. This could turn around our season.

Especially when you know Ancelotte will be playing Kalou now every week as a replacement.

and Evans got away scot free, i cant believe nothing has been made of that disgraceful challenge. what a f**king joke our FA are, sh*t scared of upsetting man utd.

Oh yeah, just remembered the challenge that did it. F*cking disgraceful. I hope he's pleased with himself now.

and Evans got away scot free,

And as if that wasn't enough, he's having a go at referees for not giving the 50-50 decisions in United's favour.

Jonny Evans believes Manchester United have been getting a raw deal off referees this season.

The Northern Ireland international feels the reigning Premier League champions have not been getting the benefit of some 50-50 decisions in recent games.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and a number of players were unhappy with a host of decisions given by referee Martin Atkinson during last weekend's defeat at Chelsea.

United were aggrieved Atkinson awarded a foul against Darren Fletcher for a challenge on Ashley Cole in the build-up to Chelsea's winning goal, while they felt Didier Drogba pulled Wes Brown's shirt as John Terry scored the winner.

Evans believes United are having to beat the officials on some occasions to get results.

"We are usually quite good with referees," Evans told Sky Sports News. "I think there are a lot of teams that do a lot of playacting, but I don't think that's the case with Manchester United.

"I think we do try and play fair and not many of us would roll around and try and cheat.

"Sometimes the 50-50 decisions, that you would hope because of that would go in your way, have not been really going our way lately and I think that's what has maybe been disheartening a few of the lads, but that's football.

"Sometimes you have got to beat the referee as well and that is what we are going to try and do."

is it 3 weeks from last week or 3 weeks from now??

hopefully its 3 weeks from last week then he should be ready for the arsenal game

should really need him for wolves, as we have enough fire powewr in anelka and kalou to do wolves

And as if that wasn't enough, he's having a go at referees for not giving the 50-50 decisions in United's favour.

good god, how deluded is he. what a f**king idiot.

So that's the entire spine of our team, bar Petr, now injured at the same time. Really bad news. Guess studge will get his chance now, possibly even against city.

I see Essien as a spine to our team too.

I doubt Studge will get his chance against Citeh, Kalou will be there bfore him. He may come on as a sub, but I doubt it.

It's not delusion at all, it's mind games and the mancs way of putting pressure on refs to give them key decisions. They are bending the rules which state they mustn't talk about specific referees before Premiership games in case it puts unnecessary pressure on the ref. By talking refs in general they are getting around the rule. The FA are gullible enough to let them get away with it because in reality Evans should be getting a call to explain his comments but what's the betting nothing happens?

Don't deny that at all but SAF is a sly so and so and top notch at applying pressure where it counbts by whatever method deemed necessary. Many times over the years he has used his players to do this on his behalf. Expect a lot more of this sort of crap to spout out from OT

i fully agree with you, but i still dont like this sensible Geezer thing. he always had roy keane do his dirty work in the past, looks like hes spreading the wealth now as a few of them are coming out with garbage like this.

So let's see if we've got this straight -

1. Evans challenges Drogs on the edge of the penalty area by putting his studs in his chest, and the ref gives Drogba a yellow card.

2. Within minutes, Drogba has to be substituted because of the injury he sustained.

3. The MOTD day team, Brummie W*nker, Lee Dixon & Alan Hansen, analyse the challenge and have a good laugh about it

4. It later transpires that Drogba has a broken rib due to Evans' challenge.

Will Evans be retrospectively red-carded on video evidence? Of course not, he plays for Manure and after all, it was only Drogba!!!

Will the referee come out and admit he made an almighty balls-up, and that he should have given Chelsea a free-kick or even a penalty for the foul? And that he f*cked up big time by booking Drogba for feigning injury when in truth, he had a broken rib? And will he apologise to Drogs, Chelsea FC, and the fans? Will he f*ck!!!

Will the MOTD team apologise for their behaviour? Will they bollocks!!!

This incident is typical of much that is wrong with football - incompetent and/or corrupt referees, incompetent and/or corrupt footballing authorities, and favouritism being shown to certain clubs for whatever reason by the very same authorities and by the media.

F*ck 'em all!!!

Can anyone please find the gif or a video of Evans where it's quite clear he deliberately kicked out at Drogba please?

Why couldn't you find it yourself? It's really not that difficult...

Infuriated me also. Imagine if it was Essien or Carvalho?
