Hilarious(Hilario) or Turnbull?

Which keeper would you like Chelsea to buy?

I dont like Hilario or Turnbull.

Both sh*te

Play Hilario or Turnbull in a Cup game against lower league opponents

Buy Shay Given as a 2nd keeper but Given wouldn't be a 2nd Keeper. He would want to be a 1st choice keeper.

Hilario, whilst very prone to making errors has had some sterling performances for us. The one that will always stand out is his debut against none other than barca. The match before had been the infamous reading match and hilario 3rd choice keeper came out and kept a clean sheet. Also performed very well against liverpool at the bridge last season, will overlook the absolute mare against citeh. I think at this stage Hilario is better whilst turnbull has the potential to exceed that ability.

However i do tend to agree with the others about giving some of the younger keepers a go, maybe not in prem matches when petr is out but definitely worth a go in the carling cup or any dead rubber european matches

I thought Turnbull was better then Hilario last season but let's be honest: none of us really have enough information to make this decision. Neither has played frequently enough for us to get a great feel for it. I think we need to trust Carlo on this one as he's around these guys everyday and gets to see them in training.

I completely agree.

There are not many better than Petr, we have to remember that as well. Glad we have him back for the start of the campaign.

Me too.....and I only see Hilario going downhill whilst Turnbull should be improving.

Hilario is the worst goalkeeper I've ever seen whilst supporting Chelsea. The only guy I can think of he provided me with a similar feeling of dread was Frode Grodas.

Turnbull has had some ok games for Chelsea when we lost to Inter he done ok. But Hilario?......the man is sh*t. Has he ever had a good game. I remember a game against Barcelona when he didn't manage to make a fool out of himself.

I simply can't believe he still plays for Chelsea.

Hilario was decent enough when he had a long run in the team after the Reading mess his first season, was good last year at home to Liverpool . . . as a third keeper (which is what we originally signed him as) he'd be about the best in the Premiership. As a second keeper he's borderline, and I'm glad to hear from the Begovic rumours that we seem to be trying to upgrade, but it's not hard to see why he's in the squad. And if he's the worst keeper you can remember then - to pick just one post-Roman example - you've obviously blocked out the memory of Neil Sullivan!

Hehe, Neil Sullivan. To be fair, what was he? 3,000 years old when he signed him.

The problem I have with Hilario is this, you say he's good for a 3rd choice keeper, I say the man is on about £20,000 a week. Is he worth that? of course not. He's sh*te.

It's like he wandered in off the street to Cobham one day and Mourinho gave him a job as a third choice goalkeeper. From any perspective you look at it, Hilario is not good enough. Not for Chelsea, and actually probably not for the Premiership.

Good shot stopper? no

Good at crosses? no

Good distribution? no

Does he inspire confidence? no

Being goalkeeper in our team with the system we play and how we defend is either a very easy task or then hellish because of the low amount of shots we concede in a game. I think Hilario and Turnbull would do okay in a big game but could make fools out of themselves in games where they need to focus all the time. Petr is very good in that.

Hilario tends to participate too much in games where he has nothing to do. His clearances is his weakness which is usual for average goalkeepers. Petr can pass to a player he wants even if it a long one.

All in all those two never play so we can't judge them, too harshly anyway, but the fact that Carlo tried to sign Begovic is a worrying sign for our backups. If the coach don't believe in you it is very hard to believe in yourself.

Taylor to play in Carling Cup!

Taylor played for Crewe last night (on loan) in the Carling Cup so I suspect he's cup-tied. Crewe won 1-0 against Derby.

I thought Turnbull looked a decent keeper at 'boro and thought he was a good signing went we picked him up. I'd rather go with Turnbull on that basis. In fairness it's very hard for goalkeepers to come in for odd games and they will always look better after a run of games. Plus being a goalkeeper in a top team is a different skill to being a keeper in a poor team. Keeping concentration when you don't have a lot to do is the key for a top team, hence top teams buying "good keepers" from weaker teams can become unstuck most noticably the ManUre guy Taibi.

Neither are good enough and with Cech being increasingly injury prone decent cover is essential. Presumably the club recognise this which is why we are allegedly after Begovic.

Found out yesterday that Matej Delac is at Chelsea now. Maybe he'll be our back-up? But at 17, it's a risk.

Is he really? I thought that he's going to be at Chelsea in 2011...
