Tony Pulis has revealed that Chelsea made contact over a move for Asmir Begovic but Stoke have no intention of selling.

Ross Turnbull and Hilario have provided the back-up to Petr Cech since Carlo Ancelotti took charge at Stamford Bridge but the Blues manager now appears to be looking for another goalkeeper.

Potters boss Pulis says Begovic had attracted their interest, just a few months after making the move to the Britannia Stadium from Portsmouth.

Begovic struggled to dislodge Thomas Sorensen from between the posts during the second half of last season but is still highly regarded.

Pulis insists Begovic will not be going anywhere as Stoke are looking to strengthen their squad rather than allow key men to leave.

Speaking about Chelsea, Pulis told The Sentinel: "They have enquired, but they have been told he is not for sale.

"We are trying to bring players in, not let our better players go."

So the club is worried then.

I don't understand why Sorensen isn't starting for Stoke; he's a top keeper. Is he recovering from injury or something?

Sorensen does start for them. They wanted to give Begovic a game in the cup but then he couldn't be bothered

I was under the impression he was starting in the league as well.

The stupidity of all this, is that pompey owe us money, why didn't we sign him last winter? We've needed a back up gk since we sold Carlo.

I think we made a half hearted attempt to sign him on january deadline day.

hes always seemed to play well against us so if we could get begovic, then we could have the three goalkeepers in our squad as Cech, Begovic, Turnball. \meaning we would have two homegrown players there.

exactly, begovic is better than what we have and would be ideal with the new quota

Eh? I think he has only played against us once. (twice at a push) and that was coming off the bench to concede 5 goals!

To be fair, that was hardly his fault, he had no team in front of him.

I wouldn't judge his ability based on that match, had there been Cech,Buffon or Reina in his place the score would probably have been the same in the end.

That is fair but I am still not sure where the claim that he has always done well against us comes from.

If we brought Begovice in it would be good to laon Turnbull out I reckon.

Wouldn't it be wiser to let Hilario go so as to free up a foreigner spot in the squad.

I still don't understand why people who think Hilario is a liability as a back up are keen on Begovic.
