Hutch Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 This one has to be posted, if only because of the bloke's name. From imscouting.com: Tottenham and Chelsea are among those chasing FC Utrecht striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel , according to Italian reports. The Tutto Mercato Web site says that as well as Tottenham and Chelsea, Newcastle United , Birmingham City and Turkish side Bursaspor are also in the race for Van Wolfswinkel's signature. And the Dutch Algemeen Dagblad newspaper has confirmed heavy interest from English clubs. Van Wolfswinkel has scored a staggering 15 goals in 15 games this season. The 21-year-old sensation has good ball control and amazing movement and positional sense inside the box. He is fast and is composed in one-on-one situations. He is valued at some €6.5 million. LINK
The Moos Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Nothing good comes out of the Netherlands. His name might be totally awesome, but he gives me flashbacks of Kezman
Plavi26 Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Nothing good comes out of the Netherlands. His name might be totally awesome, but he gives me flashbacks of Kezman Yea but you have also Bruma playing well and VdV seems to be a good acquisition for T*ttenham! Although Kezman never flourished, you can't say all the players from the league will fail!
mad_mac Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Yeah, and horseface was sh*t at utd, and Robben was crap for us, and van Aanholt looks bollox
moi Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Nothing good comes out of the Netherlands. VAL comes out of the Netherlands!!
Hutch Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 Nothing good comes out of the Netherlands. No of course not. To name but five: Ruud Gullit, Ed De Goy, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Dennis Bergkamp (love him or hate him), Edwin van der Sar ( a former Fulham player, I believe) And if you look further afield, you have any number of Dutch players who've been massively successful outside of their native country. Johan Cruyff anyone?
yorkleyblue Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 VAL comes out of the Netherlands!! She comes IN the Netherlands too! And I'm not even thinking about the nether regions!
moi Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 She comes IN the Netherlands too! And I'm not even thinking about the nether regions! yeah, don;t go there, Kev!
The Moos Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 VAL comes out of the Netherlands!! Damn, you're right. She'll rip my nuts off  Val is the best exception. Val and tulips.

moi Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Im off to Amsterdam this weekend on a stag weekend, im slightly worried about all this coming and going. You're worried about coming?
yorkleyblue Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 when you get to my age, it's the inadvertant going that's more of a concern
PloKoon13 Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Nothing good comes out of the Netherlands. Ruud Gullit, Jimmy Floyd and Val's tits would beg to differ.
moi Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Ruud Gullit, Jimmy Floyd and Val's tits would beg to differ. But did Val's tits ever go back? That is the unanswered question of the decade! Finding them could be the 21st century's quest for the Holy Grail.
Nibs Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Im off to Amsterdam this weekend on a stag weekend, im slightly worried about all this coming and going. You lucky bugger. Went there on a football tour back in 1990 and it was a case of "what happened in Amsterdam, stays in Amsterdam................." No way my Mrs would allow me back there.
Hutch Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 More on the subject of Dutch Chelsea players. I've just watched Chelsea v Coventry from 2001 on Chelsea TV. Final score: 6-1, helped a little by the fact that the then Coventry keeper, Chris Kirkland was sent off when it was still 0-0. Having said that, it could quite easily have ended in double figures. As it happens Jimmy Floyd (here comes the start of the Dutch connection) scored 4, his first hattrick in English football - and that was without two or three sitters he missed. The Coventry goal was entirely down to a demonstration by Ed De Goy of his lack of 's attempt at ball juggling skills. Also involved were Mario Melchiot, who had a decent enough game, and - a bit of a collector's item this, a certain Winston Bogarde who came on for the last 20 minutes or so. I wouldn't say he was outstanding, but he looked a decent enough player, showing good ball control, making a few accurate passes, and putting in a very good cross from which Jimmy Floyd should have scored his 5th of the day. I think we all know how the basic facts of the Bogarde saga, but the question is, if he wasn't that bad a player, how did it all go so wrong for him at Stamford Bridge?
Valerie Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) This thread is taking a turn for the bizarre.... Van Wolfswinkel is indeed a lovely name, of course you all know that 'winkel' means 'shop' or 'store' in Dutch. DKW, I hope you enjoy the stag weekend, but please please please don't be as obnoxious as so many Brits on stag weekends in Amsterdam. I beg you! Some establishments won't even admit Brits anymore.... Where are you staying? Any chance of a pint together? Edit: almost forgot to snarl and growl at Moos. SNARL! GROWL! Hutch Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 So is there much of a market for Wolf's Winkles over in Holland? Sorry couldn't resist it!
Valerie Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 So is there much of a market for Wolf's Winkles over in Holland? Sorry couldn't resist it! It's a niche market, but if you got in at the right time, you're set for life!
