now i'm fairly sure this is nonsense. Bayern may want Kakuta but why would we sell him? if we do, if we were even tempted to sell Kakuta then it would raise serious questions about the club's youth development policy.

here's the article in full. make of it what you will:

German giants in for controversial Chelsea whizkid Gael Kakuta

CHELSEA teenager Gael Kakuta is wanted by BAYERN MUNICH. The French midfielder’s controversial move from Lens to Stamford Bridge in 2007 eventually brought Chelsea a FIFA ban on transfers.

It was quashed on appeal when it was ruled that the French club’s pre-contract with the youngster was not valid.

Now, after being left on the fringes, Kakuta, 19, could be tempted by a move to the Champions League runners-up.

He was watched by Bayern scouts as he starred in his country’s win in the European under-19 finals.

Kakuta will be waiting to see if he figures in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for the opening games in a major test of Chelsea’s ability to bring through top talent.

The club would want a big fee for the youngster, who has so far made a couple of cameo appearances. But the failure to promote from within has made a nonsense of the club’s expensive youth signing policy.

Seriously if we even are looking to sell him it would be madness, one of the best young talents around - still I dont know why we dont give him a chance, he is 19 and should get at least 20-25 mins each game to be fair.

Hopefully he'll get to play FA/Carling cup matches.

footballaholic wrote in the match thread:

Any idea where Kakuta was? would have been the perfect opportunity to give him half an hour

i was wondering that myself when i saw yesterday's team sheet. maybe he's having a break after being away with the French under 19 team. i haven't heard anything about an injury and this is the only hint (which i'm sure is nonsense) about any unrest.

hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of him over the coming weeks.

I doubt there is anything in it but it would be fascinating and almost amusing to see the suicidal outrage and this would cause a lot of people on the forum, mainly those who have never seen him play a full 90 mins too

These reports aren't even funny, just wind me up. Alan Nixon & Tom Hopkinson go f**k yourself you idiots and write something useful, i can't believe these people actually get paid to write this sh*t.

I wouldn't switch him for anyone for any price. We have a gem in our hands, truly one of the most coveted young players in Europe. He could be our new superstar and we did a looooot of tapping up to get him so someone needs to pay for those phone bills. Best way to handle that is to make him a star and sell alot of shirts.

in the same paper we have Didier to Real for 10 million and just below that article Charles N'Zogbia rated the same price at Drogs.

i'd be very much surprised if that wasn't just another "Jose raiding Chelsea" story, possibly re-fuelled by Riccy's departure. a couple of days ago there were rumours flying about that Mourinho was after Petr Cech. not a shred of truth in it.

I believe Kakuta will stay with Chelsea.

Bayern Munich will not sign him.

The buy-out clause for Kakuta would be unacceptable.

Carlo stated he's the best player he's seen at his age and won't let him go.

He will work at converting Kakuta into a world class footballer.
