Ivanovic's agent has today confirmed that new contract talks with the player have stalled/failed to progress. Juventus are now linked with the player. If that is the case, WTF are Chelsea playing at? He is one of the most key players for Chelsea and only 26. Scandalous our joke of a Club has become. Thanks a bunch Abramovich !!!!

Abramovich probably has very little to do with new contracts, talk to our chief execs.

The club is looking to balance the books, therefore club is funding contracts. We probably could afford to give him a new contract though with Anelka probably being off our books at the end of the season.

I'm aware I use probably alot.

If Ivan doesn't sign a new contract, that'll be the time to start having a moan. For now it's just a matter of sitting back and awaiting the outcome."According to player xxxxx's agent" and variations thereon, is fast becoming my least favourite saying in football.

If he leaves then let's wait until we know exactly what happened. Perhaps he demanded way too much so we couldn't let him get a new contract.

But he doesn's strike me as a person who wants over the top wages. And let's face it, in Ivanovic we have a player who is really good both as CB and RB. That's worth alot.

EDIT: Forgot to say that this could also be a trick from the agent to get his player (and himself) more money. Soon he'll say there's big offers from other teams to put mor pressure on Chelsea.

be gutted if we lose him.

can't believe the club let Joe Cole contract run down, now Bossy. Pls let it not happen to Ivan.

Next summer. A couple of months ago, this is what his agent had to say:

Ivanovic] is about to sign a contract extension with Chelsea so I really don't think he will be moving away.

And today he is reported to be saying that talks have "failed to progress" and that "Ivanovic would not be unhappy about the prospect of moving to Turin [Juventus]". Which as Moos says, all sounds very much like the agent whipping up interest to get his client a better deal.

Why would Ivan go to Juve ??

I mean...maybe he wont sign a new contract but why would he go to juve then. Im sure he would get offers from pretty much every top CL club...

Has he already gone then? Or are you just jumping the gun there ever so slightly. What a completely over the top load of sh*te.

I think one problem is his insistence on playing CB full time. Ivanovic has made it clear through his agent he heavily prefers playing CB as opposed to RB (where he was amazing last year).

Chelsea might have made it clear they are looking at other options at CB to play beside Terry and Alex will return there when fit. Maybe Ivan does not like where he ranks in terms of preference at CB.

True or not, his contract is dangerously close to the end, and am i mistaken if i believe that clubs can negotiate contracts with him already now and get him on a free in a June? Losing Ivanovic would be a disaster.

Iceman maybe harsh on his critisism but the fact we've let run to this point and his agent is allowed to openly discuss deals elsewhere is poor on our behalf. Contracts should never go down to last 6 months it puts the ball firmly in the agents court. other teams can now offer bigger wages because there's no transfer fee involved.

If we dont sign a new contract with him soon we will have to pay WAY over the top wages to get him. Just because half of europe will be after him...

Cant believe we didnt manage to get this contract extend already... If I were Ivan btw I wouldn´t sign anything until June and then pick on of many offers.

I think that clubs can enter contract negotiations with him and sign a pre-contract agreement, but if that happens then we are entitled to compensation, which will probably be £1-2 million.

I don't we get compensation at all as they player is over 21 I hope he comes to his senses we signed him for 8 he's prob worth 15-20 and it would be bitterly disapppearing to lose a 26 year old proven defender.

Man oh man, whats going on? If his wage demands are too high, cave to them for now and just sell him on in the summer or next year. Clubs would pay double what we did from Loko to get him, provided he is on a long term deal.

June 2011

I believe its June 2012. He still has 18 months on his current contract. We definitely want to sort this out soon but I suspect this all part of the standard negotiations. The club is trying to bring down the initial request from the agent. Still we had better sort it out.

Usually this kind of thing happens, players agent pushing for a larger contract while linking his playerto another large European club.

Hopefully, but I am a bit confused

I was going by this Guardian quote from his agent last October. Link

"There is no truth regarding contact between Ivanovic and Juve," Borozan said.

"Those rumours are without foundation. I believe the link may have been made due to the fact that my partner [Dejan] Joksmovic is Krasic's agent and that Ivanovic's contract will expire in June 2011. "But the lad is about to sign a contract extension with Chelsea so I really don't think he will be moving away."

And also his wiki:

On 15 January 2008, Chelsea confirmed that the club had agreed terms with Lokomotiv for Ivanović's transfer. Ivanović signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Chelsea the following day.

Now I also read other quotes from his agent saying he has a year and a half remaining.

I'm going to go get some rest

If Frank Lampard's contract can go to the wire, anyone's can.

Our youth development programme has not only been set up to produce future first team but to recoup money in transfer fees when we sell

on young players to both abroad and teams lesser than ourselves.

The fact that Borini, who might well become a top player, is not being sold for money and has drifted into a no contract situation is proof

that whoever is negotiating contracts iisn't up to the job.

Let's be honest here, someone like Ivanovic would be an asset to any team in the world, to be top class at centre back is one thing, but full

back is another thing.

Quite why we get ourselves in this situation is mindblowing, it may be harsh but for all Roman has gave us, the people he chose to run his

'Chelsea business' have let him down considerably.

Another angle, is, you have to look to the future. When we were buzzing on and off the pitch, everyone wanted to play for Chelsea.

Would anyone seriously consider re-signing for Chelsea when the future, if not looking bleak, looks like a cost cutting enterprise for sure?

The days when players at Chelsea are re-negotiated big contracts are gone, players with Chelsea at heart like Lampard, Terry and Drogba, those

like Malouda and Kalou who would find it hard to get things better or offered elsewhere, fine, Chelsea may feel they have the odds in their

favour.

Ivan cannot be blamed if he walks away, in fact he should be applauded if he does.

Chelsea are supposed to be regarded as a big club, their attidude at boardroom level is otherwise.

The following information clearly shows that on paper we have men on board to run the cub, many with football related experience,

I would question Buck's Chelsea allegiance though, I once read he was a Man Utd fan, anyone who changes their support for a club

cannot be trusted where anything football is concerned.

Bruce Buck, Chairman:

Born in New York, he has been a Chelsea supporter since coming to London in 1983 and has been a season ticket holder since 1991. He is a shareholder in Chelsea Limited, the ultimate owner of the club, and the company used by Roman Abramovich for the takeover in 2003 and is managing partner in Europe for the US law firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

Ron Gourlay, Chief Executive:

Previously chief operating officer, he had been with Chelsea for five years in a variety of director-level roles before becoming chief executive in November 2009. He has more than 25 years experience in football having previously undertaken senior roles at Manchester United and Umbro.

Eugene Tenenbaum, Director:

Born in the Ukraine but moved to Canada at an early age, Eugene is one of Roman Abramovich's closest associates and was formerly head of corporate finance at Sibneft, the oil company sold by Mr Abramovich in 2006. He is currently the managing director of MHC-Services Ltd. He holds a bachelors degree in commerce and finance and a degree in economics from University of Toronto and is a Canadian chartered accountant.

The day-to-day running of Chelsea is undertaken by the football club's Executive Board headed by chief executive Ron Gourlay:

EXECUTIVE BOARD BIOGRAPHIES:

David Barnard, Director / Club Secretary:

Joined Chelsea in July 2002. Has overall responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the Football Department. Has just completed 30 seasons in football. Previous clubs are Fulham, Colchester and Wimbledon. Also a member of the Football Club board which oversees football policy for the club.
