April 4, 20215 yr I liked the temporary Shed had some good days/nights in there people in the front had plenty of space to jump about as well ! It was a golf stand apparently. The picture with the players with their backs to the camera was a pre season friendly with the stand taken down in 95 the other one is a charity match from 96 with some odd looking vehicles making it look like a car lot.

Usual apologies if they've appeared previously When you look at the above photos of SB back before the rebuild and place it alongside any division one team such as likes of lpool, man utd,man city,Spurs,Everton,Arsenal, westham, villa,Forest, sheff weds, newcastle, qpr, ipswich, wolves,Sunderland, > then you bring division 2 grounds into the fold with likes of sheff utd, portsmouth,Norwich, and Leicester, derby ,botlon,Oldham ,dirty Leeds,West brom, bham ,coventry ,Southampton > SB was a complete shi te Hole for sure . It looked unfinished and 1/4 done ,parts of ground as in West stand look eastern bloc. The away end must be one of worst away ends with likes of Wigan at springfield park ,roachdale spotland come to my mind . Has anyone got any photos of the away end at SB ,as in bogs and food outlets etc etc as it looked far less than basic from whatever vantage point you had at SB .

I can't remember where the bogs were mate. There used to be a bar or something under the old North stand at the back I seem to remember. the greyhound kennels were behind the terraces down by the back near the underground line .
April 4, 20215 yr Fans gathering at the North end of the stadium for the 1955 game v Sheffield Wednesday. Won 3-0 to win the title Old scoreboard too Edited April 4, 20215 yr by The Rising Sun Correction
April 4, 20215 yr Leicester away 85 and Sheff Wed 91 such a weird atmosphere possibly the first early Sunday kick off at the Bridge apart from when it fell on a bank holiday. They were by far the better team in both legs.

The two plays were played out exactly the same from 2-set plays and Sheffield scored both times . I was splitting Bast ard feathers

I recall at Wembley when we beat Boro there were loads in wheelchairs to our right near the front and half of them were Boro fans and as the whistle approached dozens of Chelsea approached the the boardings. I can recall thinking surely they are not going to do over the Boro fans in wheelchairs and thankfully not they were just waiting to charge onto the pitch!

April 5, 20215 yr Here's one. caption said queue for cup replay v spurs 64. That was the 70,000 attendance for a night game. If that's Earls Court in the background, is that the road with the Atlas pub ? if it really is us, that's a fecking long queue from the Bridge.

April 5, 20215 yr Had a look on bounder.friardale for attendances at The Bridge in 1964/65. The highest looks like the 63,635 v Peterborough in FA Cup 6th Round on 6th March 1965! The Spurs game in FA Cup in Feb 1965 had an official attendance of 63,205. There was 60,769 for a midweek League game v Man Utd in Sept 1964. Senior Moment, this is,of course, the following season! Don't know the official capacity back then but been there with a few over 60,000 crowds . heaven knows how they squeezed over 80,000 into basically the same stadium back in the 30s v Arsenal and estimated 100,000 against Moscow D. in '45. Remarkably little newspaper reports on that 70,000 attendance though

The original game was played on Sat 4th Jan 64 and the replay on Wed 8th Jan 64. So either the photo was taken on the Sunday or there were quite a lot of absences from workplaces on Mon,Tues or Wed !😀
