Yeah we pay a fortune these days but we see great football and goals flying in every week !

Even going away was cheap back then, remember those Persil offers that gave us cheap train tickets ?

Now it's breaking the bank and ko times changing so much it's hard to plan in advance.

Not that I bother with away games anymore.😀

I rarely go to away matches nowadays. Can't remember the last one I went to. Remember the cheap train tickets. The train specials were good. As you say, bloody expensive to go to football matches nowadays and the changes to ko times don't help. Especially if you've made travel plans.

Bit off subject but haven't seen anything on season ticket renewals for next season. Normally have received letters and emails by now. Have heard rumours that the prices will go up next season. Can't remember the last time they went up. A few seasons ago. I pay £880 for a ST in the MHU. Can see it going up to £950 but hope I'm wrong. If ST prices go up prices for cup games will also go up. If prices do go up, will some people not renew their season tickets? Time will tell I guess. I know one guy who is in his late seventies who is considering given up his ST. Not due to costs but is getting more and more pissed off with changes to kick-off times. His wife is also poorly.

Yeah I've wondered about prices.

I've got a half price " old git" season ticket !  but it won't go down well after the f**k up of a season if Todd sticks prices up too .

Yes, after the season we've had an increase wouldn't go down well. Especially with money being tight for a lot of people. Just guessing here but is it possible that the club could hold back on increasing prices until a decision has been made on how the Bridge is redeveloped or if we move to another site e.g. Earl's Court. I remember reading an announcement a while back - can't remember if it was from the club or Chelsea Pitch Owners - that if we moved to another stadium e.g. Wembley whilst the Bridge was redeveloped ST holders who found the trip to and from Wembley difficult could put their STs on hold until the Bridge was redeveloped.

Hopefully we'll hear from the club about prices and redevelopments/moves soon. Perhaps the club will wait until we've won this season's Champions League and everyone is in a good mood and won't worry about a price increase! ha ha!

I'd be surprised if they don't go up no European football less glamour games plus if next season is the same less coverage on Sky/ BT. I don't know about anyone else but I have f**k all confidence in Boehly and his cohorts.

Good point about no European football and fewer glamour games. Will need to raise money if there is less TV coverage. As for Boehly I'm undecided. Not totally convinced he gets Chelsea and football in general.

I have posted these before but me and my mates in the boozer last night were talking about Wembley we are all from NW London about what was there apart from the stadium and all we could remember was a carpet warehouse, the car park and the market on a Sunday which sold moody leather jackets and household crap etc these are from the Full Members great day out.

Posting this mainly for the opening credits where we had to endure Ray Wilkins missing a sitter against Spurs in a game which more or less confirmed relegation I used to hate seeing it as a kid. Also the end of the opening credits I don't remember that at all although I was only 9 !

Just checked online the Persil tickets- the offer ran from 83 till 86. Six vouchers allowed a “ child” to travel with a ticket carrying adult for free.

There were other deals with Kellogg’s before but not sure football fans cottoned on. Only went Inter City in the 80,s a handful of occasions, probably because the Special was sold out or no one fancied driving.

The rolling stock was a million times more luxurious than the Soecials, plus you could get some beers in.

What year did the Specials become dry? They were non drinking when started using them in 82, though we found ways round this

I think after so many trains were damaged mid seventies, I think that is when the alcohol ban started.

Remember Bacardi and Coke in 2 litre bottles were popular! At the ticket barriers, stewards and police would check for Alcohol. If the soft drink was sealed no problem, if open they would demand to smell and taste it!

Get an orange, make an incision through the peel, using a syringe suck out as much orange as possible. Fill back up injecting with vodka. Cover up incision with orange coloured sticker. Jump on train with bin liner full of ‘em
