September 8, 20196 yr Tuesday, 8th Sep 1953 at 6pm. A rush to get to this game for a 6pm kick off that Tuesday ! We won 2-1 in front of 'a tea time crowd' of 54,946. Roy Bentley and Jim Lewis our scorers.
September 8, 20196 yr Picture above the reports 29th Sept 1971. Peter Osgood scores his second goal in the ECWC 2nd Leg match v Jeuesse Hautcharage. He got 5 goals. Tommy Baldwin also scored a hat trick that night ! This was the second leg at The Bridge, where we won 13-0, giving us an aggregate of 21-0. A crowd of 27,621 saw it. Our scorers were as follows. Peter Osgood 3rd, 6th, 63rd, 80th and 88th mins. Alan Hudson 11th, John Hollins 13th min a pen, David Webb 23rd. Ron Harris got in on the act in the 44th minute. Then Tommy Baldwin scored in the 61st, 68th, and completing his hat trick in the 90th min. Peter Houseman scored his goal in the 77th min .

September 8, 20196 yr Sorry for size of pic above ! Barry Bridges scores our second goal v Blackburn Rovers at The Bridge. On 3rd Oct 1964. He got a hat-trick, scoring in the 15th, 17th and 51st mins, Bobby Tambling 51st and Ron Harris 76th mins were our other goal scorers. 34,913 saw it.

Nothing better than watching from the shed, and seeing gate 13 or the benches suddenly stand up at 10 men went to mow, doesn't have the same effect these days as everyone is standing from the on set. September 9, 20196 yr A 1 - 1 draw with Boro on Sat, 9th Sep 1922 in front of 40.000/ Bobby McNeil our scorer in the 68th min. Fascinating seeing these old programme covers from back in the day. My thanks to bounder.friardale and stamford.bridge. Very much appreciated.
September 9, 20196 yr We won 6 - 1on Sat 9th Sept 1961. Our scorers were: Bobby Tambling with a hat-trick. In the 26th, 57th and 80th mins. Barry Bridges with 2, in the 61st and 70th min and Peter Bradbrook in the 51st min, was 1-1 at half time watched by 22,066. It was the debut for us for Tommy Docherty, not a bad result to have on your debut !
