Cheapest way.

So I cancelled my pre-order and ordered from Curry's instead. Next day delivery guaranteed. The price is the same though. I can never find anywhere where games are drastically cheaper, I accept that they cost around 50 quid these days! I got mine from Shopto, and it’s awaiting despatch in the warehouse. I think these days it’s mostly timed and won’t get it earlier which used to happen a bit. I think Shopto seemed one of the best for getting it on time (or before) along with Game.

I rarely order games from Amazon because they've not delivered games on release days for me before. It's very rare that I buy any of my games online in truth, I almost always buy them from an actual shop. I go to any one of Game, Smyths toy store, Currys. For bigger game releases super markets are quite good for stocking them. Most Sainsbury's will have an Argos inside as well.
October 5, 20214 yr I’m not a fan of Game at all. I’ve just ordered Back 4 Blood from Shop To for £45 inc free delivery. Everywhere else was £55 plus delivery. Suppose I rarely buy brand new games and usually trade in.

I have always wondered if they are legit or not. Now I know. I will keep them in mind for future purchased as I see they are a lot cheaper.
October 5, 20214 yr I've ordered from them for years @Blueblur Even pre-ordered a PS5 and got one from them a week or so after release. Their website might look a bit janky compared to others, but so far I can't fault them. Got an email a little while ago saying Far Cry 6 is already in the post.
October 6, 20214 yr Anyone played Hell Let Loose? It’s free on PS5 this month. Basically it’s another Battlefield. Pretty decent game but I’ve not shot one person and feel like I’m just running the whole time. Map feels huge.

The whole thing is reliant on team work and communication and so many of the mechanics in the game aren't obvious at all. It's a bit too in depth for my liking personally. This video gives a quite decent quick overview.
October 7, 20214 yr My copy of Far Cry 6 arrives today. I know Ubisoft get a lot of stick for releasing the same sort of game every year, but I love them. The island of Yara (basically Cuba) looks like a beautiful sandbox to wreck havoc in and I can't wait to set my pet crocodile loose on to an enemy base and watch him maul people to death. The game has received the sort of review scores you'd expect. Ubisoft clearly aren't interested in re-inventing the wheel here but so what? You know what you're getting with Far Cry games. I wasn't enamoured with FC5- I think something about its setting in red-neck America didn't appeal to me- so here's hoping FC6 is more akin to FC3+4.

Gets abit frustrating. It’s well made though.

The island does look really nice. I read that Ubisoft are doing something different with the next Far Cry

My one came in the post yesterday and put a good few hours in already. I completely agree with you about not re-inventing the wheel too much, it’s good to keep its original feel I think. I am not drawn to games like COD now cause it’s so different than it used to be. From what you say about the FC5 comparison, I actually prefer that to this one. I preferred that red neck theme, and even the theme of New Dawn. The no character customisation in FC6 is also a bit disappointing. Saying that, I’m not that far in yet. It’s decent, just not quite FC5 for me. Things like going into camps stealth doesn’t seem as highlighted. A bit disappointed in that it’s taken so long to actually release, I expected a bit more.

I love the Far Cry games, I dont understand when gamers whine that a game doesn't do anything innovative, or anything different. Who gives a sh*t if its fun to play, and the FC games are always fun for me.
October 8, 20214 yr Battlefield 2042 open beta this weekend. Managed to have a few goes and gotta say, it’s feeling really good. I’m not a hardcore shooter type but feels good to me.

I have only played a couple of hours and I see what you mean about the stealth- they are almost encouraging the opposite, especially since you consider your crocodile Guapo, who you can direct to attack soldiers and the Supremo weapons. All to cause as much chaos as possible and be as loud as possible! I still try my best to sneak into bases and disable alarms, sneaky machete people and throw EMP grenades at the cameras to fry them. But more often than not it defends into a massive firefight.
October 9, 20214 yr Got Far Cry 6 today and I’d just like to say that 99.9% of the time if some c**t got shot in the face with a decent calibre round they’d be nailed on to be nailed in to their coffin. Why Ubisoft in particular have switched to this levelling up enemies and a headshot is not a kill bollocks I don’t know.

How does the game play in general?

Not bullet sponges as such, they have changed things a bit in this FC game compared to previous ones. Now when you scan enemies with your phone camera, it shows you their weaknesses. Some are weak to soft target bullets, whilst others can only be taken down quickly with armour piercing bullets. If you use the wrong bullet type (soft bullets on armoured soldiers for example) enemies will take loads more shots before being killed. In terms of general gameplay it plays like the other games. As I mentioned above though, there seems to be more of a focus on Just Cause-esque mayhem instead of sneaky stealth in this game. You CAN try and sneak into a base and take everyone down silently but it's more difficult. I'm still having fun with it- the game map is very big and I've barely scratched the surface. They've also got rid of skill trees and now all exp points go towards modding your weapons and armour with different types of attachments and buffs.
October 11, 20214 yr Got to say Far Cry hasn't got its claws into me yet and if anything the game has a lot of short comings. There's just no depth to any of the gameplay. There's an anti-aircraft gun, only way to destroy it is with explosives. Haven't got any dynomite or grenades? Tough, can't destroy it. Trying to stealth a checkpoint? We're gonna make an endless stream of enemy trucks pass through it and if even one spots you we're gonna make half the islands soldiers descend upon you and you can't take over the checkpoint until every last one is dead... Including a tank, which you have no way of destroying yet because you've barely unlocked any gear. The game seems to want to promote gun play but if there's more than one enemy shooting at you your health just vanishes and you don't unlock the ability to carry medipacks for ages so resort to just cowering behind buildings all the time. Nearly every cut scene has horrible framerate issues, keeps juddering etc. despite being on PS5. I've had to restart the game because character hair and beards weren't rendering properly and looked like they had lego hair. Lack of a skill tree or anything means I don't feel like I'm progressing or leveling up. There's too much emphasise on collecting resources and upgrading gear but so few of these game mechanics are actually explained to you and unless I'm missing something I can't find a guide in the menu system that explains anything such as, for example, how the fishing mechanics work.
October 11, 20214 yr It does get better as you get in more @ForeverCarefree but yea can see where you’re coming from 100% and a few of those things do stay like the harder stealth. Plus the soldiers get tougher as you rank up, so then it makes things even more tricky. It feels like a point-and-shoot cod game and the skill doing things stealth with a sniper or similar have gone, or at least more work to do properly. The story on the last FC’s seemed to draw you in and you knew what was going on. On this one, I find myself getting up for a drink or a piss on story scenes. A major thing I noticed is there doesn’t seem to be much organisation within the game. All that camp thing is confusing for a start. Its a good game, but a bit disappointing for something that took so long to eventually release and I don’t think it’s half as good as the other ones.
October 11, 20214 yr Sounds like a standard Ubisoft game. They’ve had the same model for years and rarely come up with a anything new or inventive.

It feels like they've just flung everything at it. Nothing was left on the cutting room floor. Camp upgrades are naff, I hate them in every game. The weird cockfighting minigame? Endless collectables. Racing mini-events. Bandito missions to micromanage. And as you say so little of it seems organised. It's all just there. If you hadn't played a Far Cry game before I can imagine you could feel overwhelmed by the amount of objectives and busy work thrown at you from almost the moment you start playing.
October 11, 20214 yr @ForeverCarefree you’ve summed it up pretty well there - it’s no where near as immersive as previous games and it does literally feel like they’ve just thrown in every new idea with no organisation whatsoever just to make it feel different. I hate this enemies levelling up with you bollocks Ubisoft have started doing - it’s just a lazy way to keep the game from becoming too easy.
