As much as my initial opinion is 'LOL' (assuming this actually happens) it could come back to bite us. Bearing in mind Avram got us closer than any other to a CL victory, and considering the state the team were in when he took over (7th I believe?) he did a damn good job in leading us to being very close runners up.

If they plan to bring him in to replace Harry, I would be delighted. Not saying he lacks talent as a manager, but he wont keep them at the same level Redknapp has.

Haha, this is fantastic.

Avraham is reffered to as the polotition in Israel. This is due to the fact he always positions him self well for the job he wants to get next

Avram signed a contract with Partizan Belgrad not more than a month ago (methinks). Unless Spurs feel like paying compensation for him - and that is very rich for Avram, I don't see it happening. It would be a serious downgrade for them anyway.

Hate to see Avram at Spurs...wouldn't want to see him take a second London Club to thier First CL Final.

He's not that bad.

Got us to our first and only European Cup final, penalty away from winning it.

Got us 2nd in the league, 3 or 4 points behind 1st was it?

Got us to the Carling Cup final.

Got Pompey to the FA Cup final

I don't want Spurs nearly winning anything to be honest...and looking at this seasonfor us Runner up looks pretty good.

Chippy's right.

Avram Grant deserves the thanks of every Chelsea fan...................... for taking Wet Spam into the Championship.

I am confident he could do the same for Tottenham within two seasons.

Grant took a fantastic Chelsea team which had underperformed at the start of the 2007 season and basically gave it the low-calorie Mourinho treatment.

He was a caretaker, in my opinion. Had Mourinho stayed, perhaps that team would have actually won something?

Yeah Zola almost succeeded in that and many wanted him here as manager, Its about players and getting the best out of them, Mourinho wasn't doing it that last season of his and Avi steadied the ship, the team ended around about where they should have and the players at West ham ended around where they should have, no miracles just as expectations given whast he had to work with.

I'd like to see what his predesessor would have done at west ham.

Avram deserves respect and will always get it from me.

Mourinho packed it in in September. To say that Mourinho wasn't getting the best out of the team when it was only September is going a bit far, no?

You don't think the slagging off of Grant could be going a bit too far then? he wasn't the best choice but he came in and done more than anyone would have expected and just doesn't deserve the constant snyde remarks, hes part of the history here and kept us challenging pretty well.

Can you imagine the task of keeping that group of players motivated after Mourinho went? he done well and I'll always have good things to say about him.

If to get my point across it hurts some people that don't like my daring not to overstate something Mourinho did or didn't do along the way then I'm sure he gets enough affection on here to even it out.

Can someone put this in quotes please.

Chippy, we all know you don't like Jose but you must stop saying he wasn't getting the best out of the players that last season. It's incorrect.

You said the same about a year ago and here was my response.

"I am always fairly shocked when you suggest that Jose’s last full season in charge was a failure or that the signs were there that he was losing his winning touch with the players. You always seem to state your view with such certainty that, despite having attended nearly every home game that season, I still feel the need to check back through my matchday programmes and re-read the press reports only to find that, no, there it is in black and white.

We won an FA Cup beating United in the final and along the road to Wembley coming back from 3-0 down against Tottenham, one of the most thrilling games of our recent history.

We won a League Cup beating Arsenal in the final.

We finished runners-up in the Premier League taking the race for the title to the last but one game and finishing 15 points above the third place team.

And we narrowly lost out again in the semi-finals of the Champions League on penalties, away from home at Liverpool.

I believe, from memory, you have written on another thread that even if we don’t win anything this season you will still feel it has been a good season and that you will look forward to the next under Carlo’s stewardship. Well, by that yardstick, if that is a good season surely in comparison Jose’s last full campaign was fabulously successful?

I also feel Jose’s and the team’s achievements in that 2006-07 season are even more remarkable when you consider what happened over the course of the year. We lost Cech for three months with a fractured skull and then had Cudicini pick up an injury which meant we had to play our third choice keeper Hilario for an extended period. We lost JT our Captain and leader for crucial parts of the campaign with the onset of his back problems, including the away trip to Anfield where Jose had to use Ferreira and Essien as make-shift centre-backs because he absolutely no fit centre-halves available at all! We lost 2-1 at Tottenham thanks to Graham Poll who seemed to have a personal agenda that evening, which saw him send off JT, book another six of our players and not give us one credible decision all night. It still remains, to this day, the worst refereeing performance I have seen in the EPL. We had the continuing press vendetta against Jose personally and the team as a whole. And more seriously we had Roman’s meddling. Bringing in his own preferred players rather than the manager’s choices, and the imposition of Avram Grant into Jose’s backroom team a move that Mourinho was vehemently opposed to as he felt, quite rightly, that it undermined his own position. Personally, I think all of that is way beyond anything Carlo has had to contend with this season.

TBH Chippy I think all this debate is going to prove academic. Roman is obviously a man who expects to get what he wants, and if Carlo doesn't deliver him the Champions League, (or at the least, make the final), then he wil go the same way as Jose and everyone else since. Regardless of what you or I think".

Just,

why as you seem to have a lot of time on your hands to dig out your old posts...(unless you save them all on your computer somewhere) don't you dig out my reply to you as I expect there was one.

I'm not interested in trying to show the boys on here whos going to argue longest on your favourite old topic as niether of us can be proved right or wrong.

suffice to say most havew seen my responses anyway and most will be ganging up to "like" your little quoted as fact type posts.

In this game forum of opinions mine as you know is Mourinho was and is a bloody good Manager and I don't like his personality, I don't like his hints at coming back that help unsettle his employers, our fans, our manager and our team.

I did like Grant as a person and felt he done very well cosidering his CV and the fact he had big shoes to fill.

I don't miss him and don't have pictures on my wall or phone or a screensaver I just give him respect, same as I do most ex Chelsea and the same as I will Boas while hes here and once hes gone.

The same as I respect Mourinho as a Manager.

You don't think the slagging off of Grant could be going a bit too far then? he wasn't the best choice but he came in and done more than anyone would have expected and just doesn't deserve the constant snyde remarks, hes part of the history here and kept us challenging pretty well.

As I said, I think Grant was a caretaker. That group of players essentially managed themselfves. They were at their peak, the team had strong and effective leaders and they followed a style established by Mourinho.

The shock of losing their leader may have given them a boost. It often happens when a leader (be it player or manager) is removed.

I realize you disagree, but for for me Avram Grant did nothing. Frankly, that was his greatest achievement. He didn't upset the applecart, he didn't try to change things which didn't need to be changed.

Regardless of our opinions on what impact he had, your opinion being a team can function without a Manager and mine being it can't the fact remains that the season was more successful than most

would have imagined and a Man given a contract for three years on his record should not have been sacked on results.

He deserves respect, he is part of our history and almost our only CL winning manager...a lick of paint or possibly a bit of focus from Drogba or Anelka would have given Roman his holy grail.

He never done anything to hurt the club and did what he could.

I suppose on that logic the boost the players got from losing Scolari made Hiddinks job a doddle?

To be fair, that's not exactly what I said. I said that that particular team, at that particular time, had a style and a strong identity firmly embedded by the departed manager and it needed only the lightest of touches to keep humming along at a high level for that particular season.

I thought you said "That group of players essentially managed themselfves" but again regardless the debate I entered into was one concerning commen respect and my belief that Grant deserves at least that.
