This guy genuinely seems upset, but hes still very young. I think he expected more opportunities, hopefully he can show something pre-season and not have to be loaned out. I think he's frustrated because he's a Chelsea fan himself and as a Chelsea player he wants to lead the team on the pitch.. all in good time Romelu, just have some patience.

He needs to keep his head down and shut up imo. What was he expecting when he came here. He couldn't go on loan last year because of FA laws. He has already had a go at AVB now this. I hope he can just get on with it, he's only 18 he's got so much time ahead of him and he wants it all now. He was never going to lead to line for us last year.

I think that this has been a very tough year for him. He had been looking forward to joining is favourite team and playing with his favourite player there. Finally he's sold and moves to Chelsea. A dream come true.

But he ends up not getting games and when he finally do get to play a few minutes or so he's lacking match fitness so he can't really perform to his usual standard. Apparently he can't go on loan, so it's the reserves and the bench for him.

And it's not the best way for a young talent to become better.

Not sure who's to blame - him, AVB, both, neither.

Anyway, for an 18 year old this must have been hard to take. A more experienced and adult player might have taken it better, but at that age he's got lots to learn.

So, a very disappointing year. I hope we make the right decision regarding him ahead of next season. Either we see him as someone who will play or else we send him on loan. No middle way now. He need games.

To be honest, I don't blame the guy for being frustrated. I remember reading last year that Romelu was only expecting 15 minute cameos at the end of the match. He didn't even get that sometimes.

£18m is a lot of money for a reserve player. Hopefully he goes out on loan next season to a Reading / Southampton and get some experience. I have a lot of faith in Lukaku, he's a Chelsea fan for starters and is going to be a bit deal in the future!

"Chelsea really wanted me last summer and paid a lot for me but after a while I thought are you just throwing money around?" he said.

He was bought as a future star like De Bruyne, Piazon, Feruz, Marin ect. He needs to keep his head down and trainign hard.

With players such as Drogba, Torres, Anelka ect what did he expect when he arrived?

He's had limited game time but he doesnt look ready for what little bits we have seen.

He needs to go on loan to a PL club like Sturridge did for him to stand any chance at all.

'Lukaku said he had improved in training, was eating far fewer hamburgers'

Well that's a start anyway!

I think the reason we bought Romelu at the time we did was because he was 18 so spending three years registered at Chelsea, he would qualify as home grown. We didn't really need him in the squad with so many attacking options, but apparently he didn't get that memo. A loan spell would have been perfect for him at the beginning of last season and I do wonder why he wasn't given the chance if he wasn't going to be used. I am not certain if the rules allowed it, but if he hadn't featured for us for a single minute, it shouldn't have been a problem. Probably the club, or/and AVB, decided we need a back-up to the back-up to the back-up with the result of a promising youngster more or less wasting a year in his development.

As it is, I hope he was able to learn as much as possible from Didier, Anelka and all other teammates whom he trained with. I see a more regular place for him in the squad this season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned out.

I think we should forget loaning him out and let him fight his way into the team, with Drogba gone he has a realistic chance of playing more games, he should also remember that Torres is still yet to convince if he can be our #1 striker, Sturridge isnt exactly taking his chances at present either. Lukaku wants to play with his mates on the big pitch, cant blame him for that, be patient and fight for your place is my advice to Lukaku.

Would be best to loan him out, especially if Hulk is signed as well cause he would not get a look in unless we are extremely unlucky with injuries. 6 month loan to a team like Everton/Reading/Swansea/whatever other teams only have one decent striker if Torres still hasn't impressed during those 6 months and Lukaku has then you can call him back in Jan instead of extending the loan and register him in the squad, give him game time.

''eating fewer hamburgers''- guy sounds like a doughnut

Even if he were the best 18 year old in the world, shouldn't give him the entitlement to walk into Chelsea's first team. If he gets to 22 and nothing's happened, then that's a different story.

I don't blame him for being frustrated. It's not like he's saying "I deserve to start" or acting entitled, he's just upset at essentially wasting a year of development. At his age, just getting consistent minutes is what's important and if he wasn't going to get that here (which should have been painfully obvious given who was in front of him), he should have been loaned out.

So Torres can complain publicly but Lukaku can't. And Torres was given a chance but he didn't take it. Nobody gave Lukaku a chance. Why is Lukaku a prick? Because he has been benched all season long and he is not happy about it? You guys need to keep it real. All our strikers were terrible last year except Drogz in a few games and he still got next to nothing playing time and you are happy to swear at him. SERIOUSLY!?

And I doubt he'd go and say it in public if he wasn't promised something else when joining for 18m. Remember he was a first team choice for both Belgium and Anderlecht who play in the Champions League. So yes, he would have been promised playing time either here or at some other clubs but he got nothing. So complaining about it suddenly makes him a prick. I think you are such pricks, not him.

He should have spoken to the manager and owner instead of reporters. This helps no one.

Torres was also wrong, I can't believe he complained after everything the fans gave him.

Lukaku needs football but clearly is not ready for English football at the top level yet, a loan is a must for next season.

i agree that he should played a bit more, but he said 'move the champions league trophy away from me' to kalou...what a prick, kalou should have slapped him and threw him off that bus top deck

Why is he clearly not ready? What is that based on? 10 minutes playing time once every 5 games? How is he supposed to perform in that much time with games for the reserves team? Football doesn't work that way. We will see if he is ready or not next season if he gets more playing time. Right now, any judgement on him is just a guess as no one has seen anything from him.

I don't think Lukaku is angry or anything, I think he just wants to know where he stands (just like Torres). I support them both, it's the media who f**ks up.

However, I think he throws huge rocks inside a glass house when he says that he is "eating fewer burgers". Well, he looks 4-5 kg over weighted in my opinion, both with muscles and fat, so maybe he should fix that first? He is for me a Belgian Blue, too much muscles for his own good.

He said in these reports that he has spoken to the club and presumably the manager first. That did not help under AVB and he did not get any playing time under RDM. And we don't have a manager for next season...so who should he speak to?

He started a few gaves under AVB and didn't look ready at that level but that was expected as he was only 18 years old at that time, a loan spell will give him confidence and match fitness that he will not get with Torres, Hulk (hopefully), Sturridge all ahead of him. He is only 19 and a years loan would be the best for everyone involved.

Not sure what exactly he said but Soccernet quoted him as:

"I have become a better player though. I lost weight, I move a lot more on the field and I really think I have the ability to play for Chelsea."

RDM is the manager....

Players should not go to the press to complain about things at the club, it only adds to the bad feelings of the situation.

He is young though so hopefully he learns.

He had 1 start I think. The rest were 10 min spells. Could be wrong though.

If he's so unhappy at his lack of inclusion thus far, he needs to jog on and try to ply his trade elsewhere. There's no way that he'd be the leading striker in any top European club at such a tender age. If he came to Chelsea expecting to start regularly, then it just shows how naive he was upon making the move to London. It won't be another year or two until he starts to feature on a frequent basis. If he can't get his head around those logistics, then he's as good as gone anyway.
