So cheating on your wife with your brothers wife is ok then?

Compare and contrast:-

John Terry, captain of England and Chelsea. Allegedly cheats on his wife with an EX team mates EX girlfriend, gets stripped of captaincy.

Ryan Giggs, captain of erm....well....erm....sometimes erm.... lets leave that eh. Definitely cheats on his wife with his brothers wife for many many years, destroys their entire family, lived a complete lie in the media with his squeeky clean image. Gets given Team GB olympic football team captaincy.

Hmmmmmmm

You seem to be implying that JT doesn't get the same treatment as other players, from the media and the football authorities. There might just be something in that.

There was only one party in that scenario who was innocent and that was MRS JT..Wayne n ex were players who got what one gets when one messes..J trousersnake T?.Young rich bloke who succumbed to these things when you are rich fit n young...I reckon from this experience he will give many years of being a good partner and good dad....(AND) of course the press give more time to anything JT does....In my opinion he is the most succesful of this bunch and they wanna bury him somehow someway..He will be found not guilty this month for the Ferdinand episode because i think, there is no absolute proof against him so he should get the benefit of the doubt..The fans will give him sh*t whatever happens..It makes him the strong silent type he portrays..Thats why he is a leader of men..THAT IS WHY HE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE LEADER OF CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB

the difference is that obviously you could say bridge had his reasons to be aggrieved and that he was also a member of the squad at the time- the issue had the potential to split the squad.

with this there isn't that possibility.

it was always a pragmatic decision and not a moral one really.

Why should Bridge feel aggrieved that Terry allegedly shagged a woman he himself stole from Gudjohnson, then cheated on?

Because men are f**king irrational when it comes to women. There's no logical, objective reason that he should feel aggrieved, but I'd wager that most men would feel that way, regardless of the sensibility of it all.

It's sex, Moi. Men will never get tired of discussing it

I can understand that they never get tired of doing it, Moos - but discussing it? What's to discuss? You can discuss books, films, music, art, football (possibly not in that order) but, at the risk of offending absolutley everyone one, I'd suggest people who discuss sex are probably not getting any!

I can't prove what did or didn't happen.

but bridge will know what happened. and if certain things that have been alleged are true then of course he would have a right to be aggrieved. I don't know if he "stole" her from gudjohnson (or that you could refer to it like that- they're not possessions after all), but if it were me, and my best mate had an affair with a woman I was in a serious relationship with (and the mother of my child) whilst I still had feelings for her, I'd be upset to say the least.

this idea that only terry's wife has been wronged isn't something I agree with. okay there is a clear betrayal of a monogamous romantic relationship between terry and his missus, but there is also a betrayal of friendship there.

of course I really don't care about this tabloid nonsense OTHER than to say:

1) I wish bridge still gets the respect and love from the chelsea support that I think he deserves.

2) it does filter into the football side of things. the giggs thing doesn't (unless rhodri giggs was to get a call up).

Point missed completely, just to remind or inform everyone that Ryan Giggs had been made what looks like the most converted and role model worthiness position in the forth coming Olympic games

He still had that many feelings for her he cheated on her and left her? hmm. As fo giggs not effecting the football side, probably not with the players but he is now the captain of the GB Olympic football team after destroying his family by shacking up with his brothers wife for many many years.

But as Andy said you`re missing the point entirely. I find it amazing how this is being completely ignored by the media, somehow I dont think they would have had it been a certain other person.

DKW while I agree with you entirely, I can't say I'm surprised by it, Stuart Pearce has handled the whole Olympics thing like the utter c**t he is!

I mean picking a captain who won't be able to play every game is beyond laughable under normal circumstances, but Pearce hasn't realised that for team GB its just an exhibition anyway!

dkw- I don't think I'm missing the point. you said compare and contrast, so I offered my opinion. that is all. I think that the two cases are different.

personally I don't think you get involved with exes of friends. and if you want to, you talk about it first.

p.s. I'd add that if anyone is prepared to defend terry's right to be england captain (on the basis that you think he's the best option), I don't see how you can be critical of pearce choosing giggs on that same basis.

(for what it's worth I think cap was probably right to remove it and definitely right to reinstate him and later resign because the decision was taken away from him)

p.ps. andy I think role model morality stuff is nonsense. unless something illegal has been done why shouldn't giggs be skipper? projected image etc doesn't matter. I don't by things because giggs endorses them so it doesn't bother me at all. this is a competition decided on the pitch not some humanitarian award.

celebrities are not role models.

How do you feel about getting involved with your brothers wife for several years, all the while you are portraying yourself as a wholesome family man to the media.

Case 1: A man allegedly (never proven, but denied by all parties) slept with his ex-teammates ex-wife whom the ex-teammate had "stolen" and cheated on.

Case 2: A man sleeps with his brothers wife for 8 years.

I would say those two are completely different things. Even IF Terry was guilty, it still wouldn't be the same.

portrayal in the media- don't care at all.

getting involved with your brother's wife- how do you think? I don't understand why you'd need to ask. it's awful obviously. however as only one of the three parties are in (or are in contention) for a place in the squad, it really has no impact beyond his family.

this is a facile point.

So in the Terry and bridge case only 2 were involved, one of whom had cheated on his girlfriend which led to them splitting up. Does he really have the moral reasons to get upset about a mate moving on her?
