My Chelsea Wishlist (Realistic)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Here is my Chelsea wishlist for January 2013 and Summer 2013. The players listed are realistic and I have added some points on why I feel they would be good additions to the team.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leighton Baines - With Ashley Cole set to leave Chelsea in January or next summer, we need a quality left back. Bertrand is good but I don't think we can rely on him to play 50+ games a season. He is still young and learning. He is the next Ashley Cole but maybe in 1 or 2 years time. In the mean time I think we should buy Leighton Baines who poses a similar attacking threat to Ashley Cole and is great defensively. He has a good free kick on him and is home grown. Like for Like replacement in my opinion.

Ramadel Falcan - Torres isn't good enough, we desperately need a replacement who can score with every opportunity given to him. Remember Man U away last year and Torres misses? Falcao would have scored. Torres has put 100% in but it just hasn't been enough. Falcao would cost a lot but quality does. With Hazard, Mata and Oscar (possibly Marin) behind Falcao, we would be scoring for fun!

Marouane Felliani - Felliani would be ideal in our midfield in my opinion, he is 6ft 4", sitting in front of the back for heading any goal kicks, free kicks or whatever back up towards the front 4, meaning the back 4 have to do very little and the full backs can then get forward and help attack with the 2 CB's sitting back with Mikel. Felliani is also a very good attacking threat in the box from corners, free kicks or crosses and can also finish with his feet. The all round package IMO. Expensive again but worth it.

Klass-Jan Huntelaar - He is 29 but he knows where the net is and is available for very little money. Even if we signed him for 2 years, it gives us a back up striker who has scored in numerous leagues whilst Neymar develops and adapts to the prem (see my next suggestion). IMO he is way better than Torres and Sturridge.

Neymar - He is one of the worlds hottest prospects, he has shown he can score in Brazil and now I think it is time we move for him. He has pace, creativity and an eye for goal. I think he would take a year or two in the prem to fully adapt but that's why I would have Huntelaar. In 2 years he and Falcao could be the worlds most feared strikers.

Fraser Forster - He has great for Celtic this season, and not just against Barca, he makes some fantastic saves in the SPL (I know the quality isn't great but still, he has ability) and I think he would be a better option than Turnbull. Next season we could have Cech, Courtois and Forster as our GK's instead of Hilario and Turnbull. He is also home grown.

Thomas Ince - He is a 20 year old winger playing for Blackpool, he has shown great ability in the Championship and I think we should take a look at him. He has pace, accuracy and an eye for goal. He is under 21 so wouldn't need to be registered and is home grown. If we did get him, I would to see him sent to a low end prem team such as Wigan.

Mats Hummels - We are in need of a new CB, with Terry coming to the end of his playing career, we then only have Cahill, Luiz and Ivanovic. Luiz is too attacking minded, Cahill is very good if he has a good partner, hence why he tends to play well with Terry but not with Luiz. Mats Hummels has played over 175 games in his short career so far at only 23! He is tall, dominant in the air and would be ideal for us alongside Cahill. He would cost a lot as well but as I have said before, quality comes at an expense.

All of these suggestions could and would come to us IMO if we act quick enough. They all replace members of our current squad. So the squad wouldn't be too big but it would be filled with quality.

Think of this as a potential line up:

Cech

Azpilicueta Cahill Hummels Baines

Felliani Mikel

Oscar Mata Hazard

Falcao

Or:

Cech

Ivanovic Cahill Hummels

Felliani Mikel

Oscar Mata Hazard

Falcao Huntelaar/Neymar

What do you think?

No.

All I would take there is Falcao and Hummels. Possibly Neymar but finding a place for him in the team, who gets dropped?

Fellaini would be a stupid buy, considering Mikel and rammy are only about 25, and we have KDB, josh, chalobah coming through.

Don't need baines, someone who can't even dislodge Cole from the starting line-up of the England team. He's not Cole, rather stick with Bertrand.

Huntelaar is cup tied.

You want Forster and Courtois to sit on the bench? Good luck with that one.

Ince..Seriously? We have marin, moses, piazon KDB, Hazard, Mata, Oscar. And you want another winger?

"Huntelaar is cup tied."

Yes but would you say no to him for the EPL given we have 2 misfiring strikers on our books?

I wouldn;t and I'd say for less than £10 it would be a great peiece of buisness to bring him in for domestic football at least.

Felliani offers more of an attacking threat, and would be great defending corners and set pieces etc. There is nothing wrong with having different options in a team. All top clubs do. Felliani is a totally different player to KBD, McEachran, Mikel, Ramiers.........

Baines can't dislodge Cole because Cole is the best LB in the world IMO but with the policy at Chelsea about over 30's Cole I don't think Cole would extend his contract. Baines is experienced with over 320 games under his belt at Premier Legue level and is 27, we would easily get 3 years out of him before the policy would allow him to leave.

Huntelaar is cup tied this season, I know, but his attacking threat in the Prem and then Champions League next season would be fantastic, for something between £5 and 10 Million pounds, it is a bargin.

I agree we have the attacking players you listed but again, each player adds something different.

Only just noticed Foster...

:D

Must be having a laugh, I watch Scottish football weekly and heis a very average keeper who had a great perfromance in both games against Barca but so did David Marshall a few years back (Exactly...who?).

He is never Chelsea material...EVER.

We'd still have to get a striker for Europe and if thats Falcao why would Huntelaar leave Shalke to join us just for Prem football, for one year. Also that would be 60M on strikers without counting wages, which for those two would be hefty. FFP? Also for a player going on 30, his best years are behind him. Rather a younger talent and give Sturridge a new contract.

More than who Mikel? Your telling me you'd spend 30M for an 'option'. Someone who can defend a corner. Makes financial sense doesn't it?

Then why on earth buy Baines and let Cole go? You think the club are that stupid? That they would let the better player go to then have to go and buy another inferior player for 15M? More Financial sense.

He won't play second fiddle. 29 in 32 is a record for anyone to be proud of. It's possible, if he accepted the move, but Torres definitely has to go first, and we can kiss danny goodbye. Still doesn't make financial sense.

So Neymar at 60M is worth it because he adds something different...Right..

Falcao, hummels and possibly a defensive mid that can defend and drive the team. Not sure who to be honest. Capoue, mvila, tiote? I hope chalobah is that man.

Honestly think we're sorted there, Mikel Rammy have been working well, and rammy can break at pace 'driving the team' forward. Mvila seems to have attitude issues, and tiote has too much of a temper, a la Sunderland We're stocked to the high heavens once our loanees come back.

Theres so much talent in our youth squads, buying in puts all that to waste. Everything I have heard of Ake has been good and our buys Josh and Chalobah are getting rave reviews in the championship. Strikers are the only place we are low in. Falcao seems the likely option, you could get Huntelaar, but will he sit behind Falcao and will it make sense financially?

We cant just buy Falcao and that's it for our striking options though, we need number in that area and a guy who is scoring for fun and who is goign to leave for a snip is good buisness is it not?

Torres won't be hear and Danny aint a striker or at least our managers don't see him as one so we need another striker at least.

If FFP was an issue then Falcao would not be coming...

As for January he may be. Depends on whether torres is still here. If we're going for a cup tied player. Danny is a striker and he'll get his chances this season, we saw what he could do in 30 minutes against WBA. Hope he starts against Juve.

FFP may be a problem when it comes to Falcao coming, but it would even more so if we are to bring in two experience strikers on 100K p/w. This is from a club that made a profit of 1M without factoring in the 80M on transfer fees this summer.

Theres others player out there for a snip, not just a 29Y/o player who doesn't fit out transfer policy and will be on high wages.

Huntelaar would not be on anywhere near £100k a week, plus he would be a cheap striker...probably the cheapest on the market for his ability at the minute.

We can't compete with United and City who have at elast 4 quality strikers each when we would only be bringing in 1 to replace a misfiring Torres. We need at least 2 to mount a serious challenge and one will be very cheap....

What will he be on? This is a striker who scored 29 in 32 last season, He'll want a fair bit of dosh. Wouldn't be surprised if thats one of the reason he wants out..Both use 2 strikers, we use one. I'd like Huntelaar, but if we're pushing for Falcao, it seems too much. And like I said, would he play second fiddle..

My realistic wishlist:

Scarlett Johansson

Candice Swanpoel

Adriana Lima

I wanted to add some points as to why I want them and how they are realistic targets but then I had to cleanup..

What if A Cole doesn't WANT to sign? I would definitely keep A Cole if he wanted to stay and sign a contract but as I am sure you know, we are only offering 1 year contract's to players over 30. If he doesn't want to sign that then he will go. You need to accept that.

Baines, 27, over 320 games, very similar to Cole, I doubt he would demand the same wage as A Cole (financial sense) so I can't see a reason why we shouldn't go in for him in January. He would be able to play in europe.

Huntelaar, could cost something like £6/7 Million, if he was to score goals, even if they are just in the prem, if we was to win the prem (with his goals) we would get at least £16 Million (2009/2010 figures) 15 million for second, 14million for third and 13 million for fourth. (Financial sence).

I hate statements like the 1 I have highlighted, no-one has any idea if anybody would have scored! This is football sh*t happens, world calss players have missed open goals, yet we're harping on about a miss from 12 months ago!

Falcao might have scored that chance, but we'll never know because he didn't play in that match!

Well I reckon it will be 50-60K at the most given he is playing for Shalke and is 29 years old, his big pay days have came and gone with Milan and Madrid.

I think he could do a real job for us domestically this season, he finished most chances off and seems to score on a gamely basis.

I think the lure of the EPL and CL football hopefully next season would be more than enough of a carrot to dangle in front of the lad?

If we sell Torres and Danny leaves as expected in the summer on a free then we need this type of striker and a Falcao...we would be getting Lukaku back in the summer too to bolster things too.

IN -

Falcao

Huntelaat

Out-

Torres

Studge (summer).

Ideally the above and we can sort other areas out in the summer, doubt we can wait with our attack.

My ideal squad in 2-3 years time would be the following:

GK: Cech, Courtois,

LB: Bertrand, PVA

CB: Cahill, Terry

CB: Ivanovic, Kalas,

RB: Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Kalas

DM: Romeu, Chalobah

CM: Ramires, McEachran

CM: Oscar, Be Bruyne

LW: Hazard, Marin

RW: Sturridge, ???

AM: Mata, Piazon

ST: Falcao, Huntelaar, Sturridge

I'm not sure what other RW we could bring in, but I think a squad like that, if set up correctly should be capable of challenging for everything.

What if A Cole doesn't WANT to sign? I would definitely keep A Cole if he wanted to stay and sign a contract but as I am sure you know, we are only offering 1 year contract's to players over 30. If he doesn't want to sign that then he will go. You need to accept that.

You have inside knowledge then? Or your stupid enough to believe everything you believe you read in the papers. Financial sense isn't letting a superior player go and buying another for 15M. Its not financial sense paying 15M for Baines when we have Bertrand, Even if Cole goes, we don't need Baines. Thats sense. Also sir, Cole will be here in January, why the hell would we buy him then?

How many games will Huntelaar play if we get him in January? Under 15, thats if here we to play every game in the league as well. Which I doubt he will and where does that leave Sturridge? That means huntelaar costs us around 600,000 per game this season, without factoring in wages, which your seriously under-estimating if you think it's 50-60K, he'd laugh at us if we offered that. Bosingwa was on more than that, as was Kalou. He won't want less than 75-80Kp/w. Most players at 29 want one last healthy pay-day. Why else Leave Shalke? You think Huntelaar is the answer to us winning the league? What do you plan to do with Falcao for the rest of the year? Play him only in Europe? 10-15M per game in Europe, without factoring in wages? Yes, makes so much sense...

We will need another striker, especially if Danny leaves, but not until the summer imo.

@ Zeta- Theres moses as well. Plus Mata will be playing there still, with Oscar at AM. Very strong line-up.Could strengthen the back down the line When Terry retires or if Luiz doesn't step up and take that step needed.

Ideally we dont need a huge amount of further investment in the squad after whats been spent in recent times.. I would say adding Falcao and Fellaini to the current squad along side some additions from the academy. If we are unable to bring through at least 3 or 4 players in the next 2-3 yrs we may as well close the academy.

GK: Cech, Courtois, Blackman

Def: Azpilicueta, Wallace, Kane, Bertrand, JT, Cahill, Luiz, Ake, Kalas

Mid: Ramires, Fellaini, Josh, De Bruyne, Oscar, Chalobah, Hazard, Mata, Moses, Piazon

For: Falcao, Lukaku, Feruz, Bamford.

In: Falcao and Jovetic, Out: Torres; Forwards: Falcao, Jovetic, Lukaku, Sturridge. Falcao - simply the best, Jovetic - allround, Lukaku - target man, Sturridge - pacey.

+ Fellaini or some other good quality DM and maybe a world class CB, but would rather give a proper chance to Kalas and other youngsters first if they deserve.

I know we have quite a lot of midfielders already but I wouldn't mind fernandinho from shaktar! I thought he stood out more than willian did and can play the ball out from deep
