Joey Cole Interview

Featured Replies

Good stuff from Cole there.

With regards to his potential move to Spurs from Chelsea sounds like he made the feelings and emotions of the fans that had sung his name every week for years an absolute priority. An example of a man who knows, understands and cares what the fans think. Abramovich take note...

With regards to Liverpool and their pathtic 'we are a big club' rubbish, that is quite hilarious and a tad embarrassing for the dippers. Even the bloke interviewing him felt the need to shoe horn in the obligatory 'history' lesson reeling off all the trophies they won all those years ago and then sure enough they went with it for their headlines. Pathetic.

Good to read this as I loved Cole but thinking he'd said that wound me right up!

Yeah I always liked him and was disappointed when I thought he'd said that - I can go back to loving him unreservedly again.

I never turned on Joey for what he was reported as saying, he gave us his best years and I thought what he said was born out of a mix of frustration at not being in the plans of a club he'd given his best to and some twisting of his words.

Whats worse than a player being let go and having a dig because hes gutted is having someone here that slagged us off and bigged up Liverpool before he came....thats the real crime.

I never turned on him - I still appreciated his time and his skills here - but just felt a little sad.  I felt disappointed that his relationship with the club must have been so tarnished for him to have said that  - now I know that it wasn't anything like that - I should've remembered not to believe anything in the papers!

Didn't Sturridge recently fall into the scouse trap of false journalism with a 'bigger' club comment when he initially joined too? They're certainly a crafty bunch.

I guess Liverpool need to be a big club to house all of those VHS players so they can once again rekindle those league glory days on tape.

Always loved him when he was here and hated seeing him in red so glad this has come out.

Favourite goal will always be the 2nd in the 3-0 win over Man United to win the league, great feet!

joe cole, what a good lad. can still remember the backheel goal against manure.

That's one of my favorite memories of him as well, such a crucial game. Malouda left everyone behind on that run

Be fair Liverpool are a big club I mean with a good finish to the season they could pip West Brom into 8th this year, you can't knock that.

Live in the now you deluded scouse w*nkers!

That must of taken you a while to think up. Well done.

just over an hour and half, in fact exactly 96 minutes. I was going to add murderers who rob their own fans but Liverfool supporters have selective memories when it comes to hissssssssstory!

Football banter is exactly that. No harm in it. But any remarks about Hillsborough should not be welcome on this forum or any forum. Those were someone's kids. Someone's parents. Let's be mature about certain things, guys.

I couldn't agree more hisssstory is there for us to learn from mistakes in the past, maturity is probably the most apt word to use if you consider its definition:

In psychologymaturity is the ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate manner. This response is generally learned rather than instinctive, and is not determined by one's age. Maturity also encompasses being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act appropriately, according to the circumstances and the culture of the society one lives in.The status of maturity is distinguished by the shift away from reliance on guardianship and the oversight of an adult in decision-making acts.

In short learning from mistakes and taking responsibility for ones actions. How appropriate.

This doesn't have to be about the tragic events of Hillsborough, or the many mistakes that were made that day. Its more about the self proclaimed 'biggest club in the world' and the self proclaimed 'best fans in the world' always playing the victims and never taking any responsibility for their actions meaning everything gets brushed under the carpet and have since been repeated again and again by the very same fans both at home and abroad.

But lets talk about Hillsborough maturely for a second and I'm just saying what most football fans will tell you the length of the country and although it may be a sensitive subject far better deal with it openly and honestly than bury your head in the sand and point the finger of blame at everybody else because the events of that day have changed football for the worse for millions of people and an entire generation of match going fans. I'd say the people who feel uncomfortable talking about that day are the ones who deep down feel guilty about their conduct and not the victims families who have campaigned for the truth.

Until everybody puts their cards on the table, takes their share of the blame and we learn from it openly and honestly well quite frankly those lives will have been lost in vain and that becomes the bigger travesty and the chance of one day getting safe affordable standing area's back at matches stays out of our reach.
