I tune in to the Chelsea podcast each week, I was just wondering if anybody else on this forum does and if so, what did you make of the comments made by one of the guests, that some of the chants need to go, including the Steven Gerrard chant? He mentioned that some of the chants, including the Steven Gerrard and Dennis Wise chants were ridiculous, he mentioned that he'd called people mugs for starting these chants, at a game I attended this season, one fan tried to stop the Gerrard chant, but recieved a ton of abuse.

One of the podcast regulars argued that if you pay for your ticket, you should be able to chant what you want, however I think that some of the chants need changing, we do need more chants for our individual players, do you agree?

Finally, the guest mentioned that the John Obi Mikel abuse annoys him, so I'm interested to know whether the stick that he gets sometimes annoys other fans. Also, the guest was not a fan of Dennis Wise, and he doesn't like the Wise chant, he said that Wise only came to Chelsea for the money, I personally think that that is a load of absolute crap, if he thinks that about Wise, then God knows what he thinks about Poyet, Wise was our club captain and was at Chelsea for 11 years, so I want to know what other people think of Wise.

Dennis Wise is a legend in my eyes! A fantastic leader and a bit of a nutcase in the process but a great player who led by example throughout the 1990s.

 

To say Wise came just for the money is absolutely ridiculous and reeks of some personal hatred against the man. He was a great player with us and naturally as he got older and started slowing down his time was up in 2001. I still hold him in a very high regard and would welcome his return to Stamford Bridge in some other role in the future.

 

How can you not like the man is beyond me!

 

Dennis Wise is a legend and the Steven Gerrard chant is a classic already. Hope we sing it for years to come; I never tire of hearing it and join in every time.

I've listened to the Chelsea Podcast a couple of times, and thought it was sh*te. The presenters sound like the type of middle-class twats that I detest, and are very prone to political correctness which annoys me even more.

I actually really enjoy the podcast (have I turned in to a middle class teat) think they make some really good points.. And I agreed with the guy that said about the singing, he was not middle class in the slightest (not that it's a bad thing)

I listened to The Chels regularly & I remember when Kerry Dixon came on the end of the Year episode. Dixon brought this fact up. It was a pretty interesting episode. Check it out if you have some free time. It was one of the better episodes IMHO. Also if you get a chance checkout the Xmas episode w/ Alan Hudson. I love to hear from the Chelsea Old Boys on how the club was run back in the days.

Never listened to it and if this is the kind of drivel that is spouted in it, I won't either...amazed any chelsea fan doesn't take great joy in celebrating Liverpool's demise with the Gerrard song and the massive hand we played in it...and wisey was our second most successful captain and a huge player for us when we had a fraction of the budget... so this guy talks absolute sh*te...plus it was wisey that introduced things like new players having the induction song, which still goes on today

I know Wise was at WFC first & maybe that is why some CFC fans don't like him. For me he was good servant of the club & I like him. Hell I thought everyone liked him after I saw this pict

Wisey was everything JT IS now, much more than what he does on the pitch. He brought a spirit and a character to the team, a never lose attitude which became what Chelsea were. Anyone who slags him off is a f**king cretin with no understanding of what a team is.

I was not having a pop at him personally, I understand that it’s one fans opinion, I was just interested in knowing what people thought about his comments. His problem with Wise doesn’t just relate to what Wise has done since he left us, he said that Wise came for the money.

I mentioned that he called people who chant the Gerrard song mugs, I think that the chant gets overused, but in my opinion calling people mugs is extreme.

On the point of the Gerrard song, theres a time and a place for it to be sung. For it to be sung when were 2-0 down at Newcastle or at Shrewsbury on a Tuesday night in the League Cup is stupid. If its sung at Liverpool then its passable, just. Become an obsession and is becoming embarassing. Should be getting behind the side instead.

Nah that Gerrard song has become a part of modern day fandom everyone's singing it and I f**king love it. It happened to is the way it did to them we wouldn't hear the end of it either. Long may it be sang I say. Admittedly singing it when we're getting beat is abit silly but any other time its fair game.
