I'm watching it and is very interesting and sad.

I read from alt sites organ harvesting was going in some camps.

Also Tito in his marriage covered the tree biggest groups in Yugoslavia so he could hold it all together yet once he went it was always going to be difficult have watched 3 episodes so far.

I didn't know that about Tito and his marriage. Thank you for the information. The definition of concentration camps changed over the years. They were used by the British during the 2nd Anglo-Boer War where the wives and children were imprisoned in camps as a way of forcing the Boer Commandoes to surrender. I think that concentration camps were used by the Spanish in their South American colonies in the 19th Century but I'll need to check.

Yep that was done as the Boers were fighting a clever war engaging then getting away quickly yer Britain knew if they took thier families without previsions they would have to fight pitched battles that favoured Britain.

All empires are evil the concept of England came only after the Normans and then English was forced on the Welsh, Irish and Scots to create a mini empire.

I have never trusted the Sydney Street massacre, 5 Latvian anarchists.......?

I got through 6 series for the Death of Yugoslavia.

Sobering at times all sides were bloodthirsty for more land giving no thought for the citizens living there.

US bombing under Clinton (the conflict started under Bush) on the Serbian forces around Sarajevo had a big impact. in getting all three sides to the negotiating table.

Omissions, nothing about North Macedonia they pulled away from Yugoslavia after Slovenia both small nations having different languages.

It looks to me that the later conflict over Kosovoa is not covered,

"Such Brave Girls" on the BBC. Now into a second series. Mental health tackled in the darkest yet funniest manner. Outstanding writing and performances.

Yes this is brilliant & each series has random cameos from comedians I love!

I'm not au fait with the comedians in cameos. Can't take my eyes off Louise Brealey's glorious performance. For someone with relatively little narrative comedy experience, Kat Sadler's writing is remarkable. Just when you think you know where she's going she pulls the rug. That takes skill. I notice she has a script editor in this second series and, coincidence or not, the storytelling is that little bit more sophisticated.

Finally catching up with the final series of "Inside Number 9". Don't know how it passed me by. Two extremely talented fellas who have produced 9 series of always interesting, often outstanding pocket gems. Their invention, storytelling, writing, let alone performances, have been remarkable.

It's absolutely brilliant, as you say, inventive story telling sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, all packed into each short episode.. I recently watched again the one where he found a single size 9 shoe while out jogging. .very funny and ultimately very sad.

Yeah Inside Number 9 is brilliant and unique and the kind of thing that would never get made on a commercial broadcaster. "A Quiet Night In" has to be one of the best episodes made.

Also not mentioned was that during that conflict NATO bombed Belgrade. The Americans launched a separate operation of their own using Stealth bombers and " accidently* bombed the Chinese Embassy instead of their nearby target killing and injuring staff .

They blamed an " inaccurate" map for the mistake. . !! An " unlikely" explanation was one opinion. Caused a major stir at the time

Will watch these two programmes later. The first is about the late, great Rikki Fulton. The second is about the comedy Scotch and Wry in which Fulton appeared. @erskblue I think that you'll enjoy them. The sketch with Fulton and Mark McManus who played Taggart is brilliant.

Yep and you can bet the Chinese have never forgotten that, I recall a couple of years ago when Australia sailed warships through the Taiwan Straits (not for the first time) with a Chinese general saying the time may come when we need to deal with those colonists in Australia.

2024.....v

"Taiwan has confirmed there are U.S. troops stationed on its islands in the Taiwan Strait on a permanent basis, including an island just over a mile off China's southeast coast."

The Americans are constantly on manoeuvres in that area too, I can only imagine what would happen if the Chinese Navy were sailing off the coast of San Francisco!

Yes one day it is going to get really messy.

The Chinese are pushing to be a world power and notice the US and allies are trying to box them in and there are inconsistencies, Hawaii being one as the King there was tricked and Bill Clinton later apologised a century later yet no talk of changes there though with democracy how long before a party springs up there demanding land reformation?

Watched the first 2 eps of the new Alan Partridge series. Please, Steve Coogan, retire the character. Back in the day, written by Coogan, Amando Iannucci and Peter Baynham, Alan was a wondrous creation - an appalling, tragic character, but one you actually, occasionally, felt sorry for. That was the genius of the writing. With the arrival of the Gibbons brothers writing and directing, Partridge became more and more a caricature, the humour became broader and broader, just easy gags at the character's expense. What a shame.

I watched about 20 minutes of the first episode, wasn't impressed at all , it was like a bad tribute act. He looks ancient too, dunno if that's intentional or that's how he looks these days.

Remember the episode when he kept shouting " Dan" at someone and being ignored ? I actually saw a bloke in the back of a parked up police car once who kept repeatedly shouting "Dan" out of the car window to attract the attention of someone in a crowd nearby and was being completely ignored !! 😂

America has over 750 military bases around the world. I was reading recently though, that America has become concerned about Chinese entities buying farmland near to U.S. military bases in America !

Watching documentary. " Mr nobody v Putin" on iPlayer..

A school in Russia has the whole curriculum changed to a " patriotic curriculum " after the invasion of Ukraine. The film maker has to film pure propaganda being read to students and upload it to a government database so they can check that the new curriculum is being delivered.. One guy tells the class that there are demonstrations all over America in support of Russia!

And France is almost out of fuel for their cars and will have to resort to riding horses !

He refers to England and says " don't forget they killed their own people in WW2' . I'm not sure what that's referring to there. It's sad to watch children being subjected to this and the false justification for the war . .
