You’re entitled to your opinion even if it is completely wrong… I’m loving this one but I suppose with my addiction to comedy it’s not surprising is it.

May 15, 20233 yr Will watch this later. On BBC2 at 9pm. About Brian Jones and his relationship with the other members of the Rolling Stones in their early days. Jones was certainly key in the early days of the band was gradually side-lined. It will be interesting to see if Ian Stewart is mentioned. He was the unofficial 6th member of the band and was highly respected by the others. Am hoping that my home town is mentioned as one of the band went to the local art college. Another student at the college was in the band for a short while. I could name the two people but leave it to others to work out who they are. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001m0sm As a schoolboy aged 14, Nick Broomfield met Brian Jones, by chance, on a train. Brian was at the height of his success, with the world at his feet, but just six years later, he would be dead. This film takes a look at the relationships and rivalries within The Rolling Stones in their formative years, exploring the iconoclastic freedom and exuberance of the 60s, a time of intergenerational conflict and sexual turmoil that reflects on the present day. Featuring revealing interviews with all the main players and unseen archive released for the first time, this documentary explores the creative musical genius of Jones, key to the success of the band, and uncovers how the founder of what became the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world was left behind in the shadows of history. It's still a smashing series (however the recording quality is poor). If a British actor wasn't cast in this, they didn't amount to much I read the Robert Graves books for my English class grammar school exams, my teacher was very much endeared to my enthousiasm. It got me a 9 out of 10 I bought Tom Holland's Dynasty for fact checking reasons, but haven't read it yet. I gather from The Rest is History podcast Graves's account may not be 100% historically accurate [shock horror].. Edited August 16, 20232 yr by Valerie

It’s a bit weird being used to Greg & Alex and not having heard of any one (other than Paul Williams - the little Alex Horne of the series) but it’s still Taskmaster.
October 19, 20232 yr Watching My Kind of Town on BBC Scotland. It's about Larkhall a town I know very well. My late Dad was born there and I have aunts, uncles and cousins who live there. The wife of one of my cousins was interviewed in the programme.

A few of my friends were at the recording of this season and the next one too.
November 29, 20232 yr Watched the original Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy series again. Absolutely brilliant, I always notice something new.
November 30, 20232 yr Will probably watch this. The summary below mentions British throne. Certainly wasn't a British throne at the time of the Norman Conquest. England had only united under one leader about 150 years before hand and Aethelstan one of the kings in England in the early 10th century did have ambitions on Scotland but not British throne. Why is it people confuse England and Britain. Poor research. Also will William be given one of the titles used at the time i.e. William the Bastard. https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2023/king-and-conqueror-james-norton-nikolaj-coster-waldau? New historical drama King and Conqueror, starring James Norton and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer King and Conqueror is the story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years Published: 02:00 pm, 28 November 2023 James Norton (Image: Michael Shelford) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Image: William Lacalmontie/Getty Images) In the UK we learn about William the Conqueror, the Battle of Hastings and King Harold’s gruesome death in our school history lessons – but those headlines are all most of us can remember. King and Conqueror will bring Harold and William to life, depicting their lives, loves and families, and the gripping, high stakes power game that led to their fateful meeting in 1066. With incredible talent both in front of and behind the camera, I cannot wait for this exciting project to be realised. — Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition CBS Studios today announced new eight-part historical drama series King and Conqueror starring James Norton (Little Women, Mr. Jones, Happy Valley) as Harold, Earl of Wessex and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones, Mama, Oblivion) as William, Duke of Normandy. Written by Michael Robert Johnson (Sherlock Holmes, The Frankenstein Chronicles) and with the opening episode directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Trapped, Everest, Adrift), King and Conqueror will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. James Norton will also executive produce through his production company, Rabbit Track Pictures and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will direct an episode and also serves as executive producer. Filming is set to take place in Iceland next year. The series is produced by TDP Development Partnership, Rabbit Track Pictures, Shepherd Content and CBS Studios in association with the BBC. Icelandic production services will be provided by RVK Studios. King and Conqueror is the story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back decades and extend out through a pair of interconnected family dynasties, struggling for power across two countries and a raging sea. Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men destined to meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no design on the British throne, who found themselves forced by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for possession of its crown. Lindsey Martin, Sr. Vice President, International Co-Productions & Development, CBS Studios, says: “We are thrilled to partner with James, Nikolaj, Baltasar, and the entire creative team on King and Conqueror, a truly groundbreaking series with world class talent and global reach. Michael’s scripts offer a bold and fresh take on a story that has endured for nearly 1,000 years, and yet, the themes are as contemporary and relevant as ever. We are incredibly proud of what the team has achieved so far and can’t wait to see it all come to fruition on screen with our star-studded cast.” Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says: “In the UK we learn about William the Conqueror, the Battle of Hastings and King Harold’s gruesome death in our school history lessons – but those headlines are all most of us can remember. King and Conqueror will bring Harold and William to life, depicting their lives, loves and families, and the gripping, high stakes power game that led to their fateful meeting in 1066. With incredible talent both in front of and behind the camera, I cannot wait for this exciting project to be realised.” The 8x60’ series is created and executive produced by Michael Robert Johnson and executive produced by Norton and Kitty Kaletsky for Rabbit Track Pictures (Rogue Agent), Robert Taylor for TDP Development Partnership (Rogue Agent, Close to Me), Dave Clarke and Richard Halliwell for Shepherd Content, Ed Clarke (The Electrical Life of Louis Wain), Robert Jones, Coster-Waldau, Baltasar Kormákur and CBS Studios’ Lindsey Martin. Kormákur will direct the premiere episode and, as executive producer, will steer the creative across the series. The BBC has acquired broadcasting rights for the series in the United Kingdom and it will be distributed outside of the UK by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
