Me and my brother have been arguing over whether michael ballack is as loved and respected as much as any of the 2014 world cup winning German side.

My view is that Ballack is the most loved German player of the last 20 years even while being "mr. Runner up"...my brother says he will be forgotten because of the world cup triumph....

Has the likes of goetze and schurrle really eclipsed MB!?

Not Schurrle, or Goetze...but rather Muller

Loved and respected by who? The German people or football fans in general? I'd imagine Gotze will always be fondly remembered by the Germans for that goal, regardless of how the rest of his career goes.

 

But, like Salad Monster suggested, I'd say Muller will (if he hasn't already) eclipse Ballack in people's eyes.

Really, Muller is the man now?

I guess i just miss the old Ballack and Kahn show...

Ballack in his prime was better than muller imo. He pretty much carried leversusen and Germany to football's biggest finals, and was so unlucky not to win either.

The guys who deliver trophies are always gonna be loved and remembered more.

I loved it when he chased Tom Henning Ovrebo all over the pitch, like a deranged, Teutonic, Benny Hill......Sigh

I'd still say Ballack is more respected in World Football than Mueller
