Man United vs Chelsea (PL) 28/12/15 KO: 17:30 BST

He should have sent off Rooney, but as he saw the Barnes challenge on Matic last year,we should be grateful he didn't totally ignore today's horror challenge.

In hindsight it would have been better if Atkinson had done nothing, at least then there would have been the possibility of it being reviewed and retrospective action being taken.

Current England captain though, not much chance of that. That sort of thing happens with our captain.

Thought we were dreadful again yesterday, It will remain the same until the personnel changes. Oscar was an embarrassment yesterday. As someone said earlier - no change at all from the last few weeks

I think I can see a big from a team that lost at home to STRUGGLERS Bournemouth and a team that kept a clean sheet at Old Trafford.

If you can't see much difference then you probably didn't watch us lose easier matches at home this season under Jose

I think you're reaching there. You could just as easily compare last night's match to the 0-0 at White Hart Lane.

Our last 3 games have been set up almost exactly as I'd imagine Mourinho would have done. And if you want to compare matches - look at the Sunderland & Porto matches, both won by an intense pressing game with an Oscar on fire. The following Watford and Leicester - points conceded after lethargic starts and chances a-plenty missed (ironically, with an Oscar completely invisible).

I'm not even having a go at Hiddink here, nor suggesting that Jose should still be in charge. Just pointing out the obvious - the same bright moments are popping up (albeit too infrequently) and the same problems still exist.

If Fergie takes over as 'interim' they must have Guardiola lined up? What a snub that would be to Jose. Highly unlikely I think.

Manchester United is a club in serious decline, who in their right mind would want to manage them.

I hope Mourinho stays away from that poisoned chalice. Better wait and go to a better team.

What yesterday's performance has shown me is that Sunderland were/are as woeful a side as I thought they were, and some of our lot are utterly useless overconfident little fools and nowhere near as good as they once were and/or think they are.

There are some major issues with this squad and we'll do well to finish half way up the league. It's gonna take 2 years and 3 to 4 transfer windows to sort this mess out. That's assuming the owner will fund it. With the self sustaining model, 1 in 1 out, not sure how that's going to work out.

Don't get your hopes up. Emenalo will continue with his preference for players with flair and weak mentalities..

I have no confidence whatsoever in Guus Hiddink's abilities as a manager. We should've gone for Tony Pulis. Enough of this sentimentality and grasping to hold onto the past. Leave that for the Liverpools of this world.

Awesome tackle but not a big fan of defending with hands behind your back. Would prefer seeing Zouma try to close down Martial and block his pass. If the ball does strike the defender's arm (in a "natural" position) from that distance then it is not a penalty.

Not necessarily, some referees would call it a penalty. But likewise, I'm not a supporter of the hands behind back defending.

It's been a while since the game finished. My two bits: we should have taken the game against United.

We let them have an open field and I didn't see much of closing in defensively against them. I think United were their own worst enemy in their sideways playing style.

We sat back, had some poor passing and few chances in goal attempts (usual story).

Against Palace, I fear we're not anywhere close to having the right stuff.

this false 9 set up works ok for stoke who have beaten utd 2-0 and everton 3-4 scoring 6 goals in two games, while in two games we have scored zero goals, so its not the system but the players and their attitude.

would you say stokes front four are better than ours?

In an interview after the game, John Terry said this:

"We owed our fans that performance. I think they can slowly see the tide turning and us putting in performances and getting results."

I'm sorry John, but if you think that that performance was any good, perhaps this is why we are near the relegation zone. The fact that he seems to be proud of that performance against an extremely dire Man Utd team is worrying.

Dreadful going forward. I can't believe how we managed to keep it at 0-0 during the first half. If Mata or Martial's went in I think they couldve gone on to finish us off in the first half. The second half we tightened up a bit tbh but still nothing special. Think Mikel, Terry , Zouma & Courtois had good games. Hazard did fine too but was not enough up front.

Just as I suspected all along! The majority of the blame lies squarely on the players. I think Hiddink is just starting to realise how poor this team is and he'll have his work cut out to get them up to an acceptable and decent level. This is why sacking the best manager we ever had was an absurdity and the board gave the players a second and final chance to redeem ourselves.

We may improve slightly as Hiddink gains a greater understanding of the team's strengths and weaknesses and we may even sneak a top half spot, but this team is finished for the long-term! Expect a massive summer clear out because historically not much transfer activity occurs in January apart from the occasional movement or two but not enough to overhaul this squad to the liking of most.

Manchester United are a poor side and probably at their worst in over 20 years yet we made them look like world beaters especially in the first half so I can't take a lot of positives out of this game apart from an improvement in the second half and the fact we somehow kept a clean sheet and didn't lose.

Crystal Palace will be a tougher proposition for us.

Whether Mourinho was at fault, the players were at fault, or in all likelihood, both were at fault, did you expect us to just hit form after a change in manager? After we have been so poor for all season?

I don't think a poor performance (but decent result) proves that Mourinho was faultless and the players were solely to blame.

It's going to take time to get going again, thus is 1st time we've gone 3 games unbeaten all season. Yes the players have been poor, but Mourinho must have made mistakes too for us to have lost as many games as we have.

Sorry but most people here aren't realistic. Despite the fact that they have seen this season that any team is beatable in the EPL, they are expecting a miracle from Guss like going on a 15 games winning streak just to prove we have turned a corner. If you are not impressed with our performance in our last 3 matches why don't you just go and support Leicester or Arsenal?

No I don't expect us to hit form instantaneously if at all this season, plus I don't blame Guus at all because he'll have his hands full with this lot getting the playing squad up to scratch and to an acceptable level.

Of course I'll support him 100% but I'm just not surprised that the players are not playing well especially after many thought it was business as usual after we beat Sunderland two weeks ago, despite some forgetting that Sunderland are 19th on the ladder and we played them at home.

No blame on Jose?

I did say that the players have to share the majority of the blame for poor performances but that doesn't make Jose and the board immune from such criticisms.

I had concerns about Jose's tactics especially when things were going pear-shaped and I also wondered whether his persona in the media was hurting the club in some respects. His tactics and his inability to play some of our younger players and give players like Remy more of a chance were mistakes caused by him as the manager no question.

However, I would have never sacked him after he had proven so much for this club already.

The board's fault was not backing him in the transfer window during the summer and for not persisting him with him until the end of the season, but the issues with the board such as Emenalo's influence at the club has been questioned for a number of years and nothing seems to have changed in this respect and I think it will continually become a recurring problem for us until it's addressed head-on.
