i think this was a good solid win.. They had one chance and that was it.. Couldnt ask for more apart from maybe a cleansheet which was on Enzo rolling around.. See a few people complaining about the performance.. i have been watching this cub for 24 years.. i would have not missed more than 10 games in the last 10-12 years and let me tell the social media fan generation.. The opposition always has chances - rarely every happens that they dont get a sniff specially when we are playing away from home.. i think it was a good away performance.. lets move to the next one..

I actually watched his press conference and its the most I have been impressed by him. Under stated but clinical. Less waffle and bullsh*t. It was a decent press conference

If he picks the best players in their best position and plays to the squads strengths, none of the inverted bullsh*t, pissing around at the back with the ball etc. then good luck to him.
I dont care for big name coaches anymore. They all try and copy Peps plan anyway, so it doesn't matter who comes in.

Are people taking the piss about Maresca not picking teams, no control of subs, position is etc? Surely no really believes all that absolute bullsh*t about him being told to do it, he did exactly the same thing at Leicester and there fans hated him for it. Or was he forced to do it there too?
    Don't be so f**king ridiculous.

People need to look at the league table. It's clear as day that a win for Liverpool is the best result for us in this fixture in terms of maximising our potential position this season in the league. We won't get near Top 4, but we need all the clubs from 5th to 9th to drop points.

Defensive metrics aren't statistically valid. You can't count things that have happened to help predict something that hasn't happened (ie the opponent scoring a goal). They are also unreliable, since "doing a lot of defensive things" doesn't necessarily correlate with being a good defender, as there are too many confounding variables.
Looking at Ugarte, a defensive midfielder playing in a defensive/counter-attacking system for a dominant team in a weak league is always going to have inflated defensive metrics. It doesn't mean that Ugarte is a bad player, it means that 'metrics' are a poor predictor.
For my money, he is a carbon-copy of Declan Rice save that he is a bit less good in attack, although the latter should be tempered with the knowledge that Sporting play a much more defensive and structured system than West Ham. You can see why the club went after him because he will be 40m cheaper even with activating his release clause. Same strengths, but also the same weaknesses too, especially as both like to dribble through the midfield but neither of them have the turn of pace to make it work consistently.
Ugarte is also clearly from the same hallowed Uruguayan school of dark arts football as Paolo Montero - as we say in Australia, "he's clearly a c**t, but he's our c**t". This is perhaps mentality that is sorely needed in our dressing room, but it often does not translate well to the Premier League (hello Jonjo Shelvey) and players like this can quickly be a liability. I'd hate to have him line up in a game featuring Anthony Taylor.

I thought Carney played well, maybe his movement off the ball could be better, defensive work better, but on the ball was good, safe and distributed well.

I have to say that Potter's post-match conferences, bland and boring as they may be to some, are to me a breath of fresh air.
Potter is about the only thing not embarassing about the club at the moment and his demeanour and grace is a far cry from our past cast of hysterical whingers, who wouldn't hestitate to blame the referees, the league, FIFA, UEFA, the reverse vampires and the lizard people for our expensive current malaise.

With reports that Boehly and co are looking to shift a load of players out in the summer I'd say Potter is going to be backed for the foreseeable. It's about time a stand was taken against the player power that has been ingrained into this club.
Anyone who is backing the players over the manager here needs to remember that these lot also downed tools for Tuchel. Sure we could sack Potter, but these players will turn on his replacement at the drop of a hat and this thread will be made once again with a different manager's name within 18 months.

I'm inclined to stick the course, no matter how difficult it is. I'd rather see where we stand at the conclusion of the season and then review Potter's position then.
I don't think there's a benefit of changing anything now before the end of the season. If we sack Potter, we get a quick sugar hit under a new coach and then we'll be back to square one before you know it.
We can't sack our way out of this mess.

Rice and Bellingham aren't even close to the same profile of player so its a meaningless point. A holding mid to allow two numbers 8's to press is what we need, to replace J5. Bellingham would be signed for a 'box to box' role.

Being linked with another striker from the Bundeslige: Andrew Fuchsitüp. Apparently scored 15 last season.
I can see the link up now:
