The Mad Hatters Luton Town vs Chelsea (PL) Sat 30th Dec 23 12:30 GMT

Featured Replies

They have claimed some impressive results at home, and given even the best sides a hard time at their ye old stadium.

If we want to win here, our players need to both use their heads, and keep them composed.

Dreading this.

Think this is the closest we can say to "a wet, windy night in Stoke". Although this is worse being an early kick off.

Still this is a special game imo. Lutons stadium reminds me of the Old Dell, Saints old stadium. A proper old English stadium, is beautiful is still around and in the PL no less. Bramell Lane similar as well.

Will be a huge test of character.

Far as line up goes the quick turn around has me thinking Poch will make a few changes:

Petrovic

Gusto

Disasi

Silva

Colwill

Caicedo

Gallagher

Sterling

Palmer

Mudryk (Jackson if Mudryk is out)

Broja

So I have to ask this and I hope it's not seen as a big deal but @axman2526, these over-the-top headlines of every opponent's custom-made nickname... You plan on doing that forver aren't you?

Lavia should get some more minutes, take some pressure off Caicedo and Conor. Sterling and Palmer back so some decent competition up front now.

‘maybe rest nkunku?

mudryck Jackson sterling

                 Palmer

caicedo               Galagher

maatsen badiashile Disasi gusto

   Petrovic

Lavia, nkunku, madueke to play the last 40 minutes.

Be a tough game this as Luton have improved a lot of late and won't make it easy for us (what am I saying - it's NEVER easy for us..........)

Not sure of injury situation but I would like to see along the lines of:

Petrovic

Gusto Silva Colwill Gilchrist

      Lavia Gallagher

             Palmer

Madueke           Mudryk

          Nkunku

Only trouble with that line up, is not a lot to then bring off the bench to change the game, but hopefully we'll be 4-0 by half time and can then rest a few and shut up shop.....!!

Hope the early kick-off doesn't f**k us like it normally does. PLEASE don't start Sterling or Jackson.

             Petrovic

Gusto Silva Badiashile Colwill

       Gallagher Caicedo

Palmer      Nkunku      Mudryk

                Jackson

I have Sterling on the bench as penance for his selfish play against Wolves 🙂

More minutes for Madueke off the bench in the 2nd half (on for Nkunku).

2-0 (Jackson and Nkunku)

Barkley plays for this lot and do they still have a synthetic pitch or is it all grass now?

They haven't had a plastic pitch since 1991 and Barkley is currently having a very good season with them.  This going to be another tough game without doubt.

I am expecting a tough game Saturday. But for some reason I am more optimistic about this one than some of our previous away games. We will have Palmer and Sterling available again after suspension, so for once we have some options in attack. We need to do what we failed to do against Wolves and take our chances when we get them.

This is and has been our biggest problem for years.

Prediction thread is up:

Please joint the fun, the more the merrier @Valeriegets and more miserable Munk becomes  😉

How about a prediction prize for how long it will take the match commentators to mention how much Luton's squad cost compared to ours.

I'm going for four minutes 16 seconds.

On Barkley I also thought he was having a good season yet transfer market had one assist and one goal...........

He's playing a lot deeper than before. He always had skill. Luton are benefiting from the skill, and, as importantly, his experience. One of the major reasons for their improvement.

Mudryk and Lavia likely out, Poch concerned Lavia was unable to run near the end of Palace and may be out for several games. Assessment not yet done which is curious 2 days later.

Apparently that press conference was filmed 2 days ago, right after the Palace game. Which might explain why the information is vague on Lavia. He won't feature tomorrow, but perhaps we will have some clearer idea of how long he will be out then.
