I know this is totally off topic, but I'm in serious debate with my mate-hes a kopite. He actually said to me that Sturridge of that season was better than Torres ever was. Can you guys give me some honest answers on this? Torres of Liverpool or Sturridge of the 13/14 season? Why?

torres was one of the best strikers in the world at liverpool and sturridge is nothing special to me so im gonna go with torres i think you buddy was pretty drunk when he said that

Yeah Torres for me too. He scored 81 goals in 142 games for Liverpool, at just under a goal every game and a half, pretty impressive. This was achieved over multiple seasons where as Sturridge only ever really managed that kind of form for 1.

Torres, no brainer.

At the time he was the best in the world (I still shake my head when thinking about how poor he was for us in comparison) Sturridge had the advantage of playing with Suarez whilst Torres had Dirk Kuyt!

Torres.....because he didn't need Suarez to set him up with tap in after tap in to get his goals.

Im not saying Sturridge is poor but his best was riding a WC players coat tails, Torres' best was being WC himself.

I actually thought this was a joke "who has made more money on the treatment table" thread or something

Don't agree with that one little bit, some of Sturridge's goals in that season were scintalaing, West Brom and Sunderland especially. Sturridge is a great player, I don't even like him but he is.

Torres was world class and better. The only thing in Sturridge's favour is the fact he was Liverpool's quickest ever striker to 50 goals, that is no mean feat.

Torres was absolutely brilliant at Liverpool, even more so than Sturridge. When he decided to turn on the afterburners after attaching himself to one of Gerrard or Alonso's through balls, he was nigh-on unstoppable.

Sturridge was lethal in combination with Suarez, but he is not the singular matchwinner that Torres was.

To the point of that goal against us, where he cut inside and bent it from 25yds, i remember just applauding his arrogance and aplomb, plus he stood up to JT loads...
