John Terry to leave Chelsea at end of the season.

I'm really puzzled by the timing and circumstance of his announcement. I didn't watch the interview, did JT just say - good win, BTW, I'm leaving Chelsea at EOS? It's only February, plenty of time to sort things out, why now?

JT is trying to put pressure on the club.

I dont blame JT for trying to pressure the club. He deserves a new deal and has every right to fight for one. No idea why the club wont just give him one. What manager wouldn't want a leader like JT in the dressing room? The only manager's that wouldn't want him are managers who are weak and feel that he would be too powerful. Any manager who believes in their own ability will want JT there to support them.

I think it's about time the club showed our older players the respect they deserve for what they have given to the club. So JT may be on the decline (i dont believe he is, personally), he is still first choice right now, and surely that warrants a new contract for next year, even if he rotates a lot more?

We don't know why he hasn't got a contract, possibly he is demanding too much money.

Dude you talk so much nonsense, please go back to your beloved TalkChelsea forum and stay there with other trolls.

Terry has every right to advertise his availability at the end of the season if we're not deeming him worthy of a new contract (laughable) and as far as I'm aware he could actually sign a pre contact elsewhere now if he really wanted to?

Don't have an issue with what he said at all.

I don't follow people's logic that it's good that we're delaying until the new manager is in when we just gave Cahill & Ivanovic new deals without the manager in place.

And before anyone talks about assets, the signing on fee, agent feel and wages of Ivanovic will outweigh what we could potently recoup for him in summer which IMHO would be about £5m.

Yeah with Cahill it made sense, him being English alone means we could get a decent fee.

However with brana getting his deal I understand why jt did what he did. Club have brought this on themselves.
